Breath was unsteady. Though powerful enough to hold him up the ocean breezes as tossed the untalented flyer about a little. The dark creatures wings would wobble slightly, and his body twist and turn. It was harder work than he planned, not to mention what it was doing to his nerves. So you’ll forgive him, in the full concentration it was taking, for not noticing the shadow appear over him in the night. He had been looking for her but in glances. So when she spoke up the mirror of herself flinched. Only with so little control, the flinch translated to a slide of movement away, wobbling as it balanced to combat the movement while contending with the sea breeze.

It went without asking then how his practicing was going. Of course, to his credit this wasn’t exactly a still day. He should have practiced more in the whipping winds of the mountains, but those thoughts were far away as the golden within her body tried to get his shit together again. “You mean I’m not falling out of the sky anymore.” His snide tease rolls through, but the effort to fly back into their formation twisted the tone to a little more bitter hint and rushed.

She speaks up again and the golden finally steals a moment to twist her dark head back to her, and flashes a grin. “By and by.” A breeze filters through and his wings shift less laboriously for it. Some confidence came back into him. Still, he wasn’t exactly up for idle chit-chat, and already after the day of travel this was wearing on his body. “Have you seen the northern Arch? If you whatch by the last northern tree on the slope there is a curiosity. I hear its lovely under the new moon.” Now his face was most serious, but he gives no other hints and the vague phrase rests in the soft whistles of the night air. He waits a moment, struggling with the wind for a second longer to see if she questions this phrase, but if not he would be more than happy to wrap this shaky flight up.
