Helovia Info
Helovia opened in February 2012! We are an active fantasy equine RPG
Where once the world narrowed into naught but gray dust and desolation, the gods called for life. Wielding the elements of fire and light, dark and wind, earth and water, spark and time, they have created Helovia. The realm is set within the mythical globe of Loorien, a planet rich with all variety of creatures and blessed with all manner of magic. Originally populated by nomadic, tribal characters, they've since grown into massive empires saturated with culture and history. Separated into four distinct segments of Helovia, called "The Regions," each band of horse strong enough and capable enough, took up the power and responsibility of leadership. Unicorns, old, wise and mysterious, took to the north, hidden in forests of mists and shadows and rarely making themselves known beyond their cliffs of the World's Edge. Equines, vast, organized and militaristic, split into two, one group went north to the Windtossed Foothills and the other group went south to the Dragon's Throat. Pegasus remained nomadic, making their homes in various parts of The Wilds in a migratory manner. For many generations, the land was peaceful and calm, but peace was never the way of the gods. With a clash of argument, war and bloodshed massacred Helovia, and in the aftermath, the realm was eerily quiet. Now, as newcomers sweep into this land, they are met with the lingering bitterness of the gods and the struggle to reclaim what was lost. Nothing remains safe or certain while sorcerers and soldiers alike brood and bide their time for revenge, honor and glory.

Only the herdlands have a source of light, but lamp-trees with glowing leaves and branches sporadically line the popular roads and paths from place to place.
Doppleganger Plot ☼ - 6/20/13 - The God of Time is still struggling to close the rift though which the dopplegangers have come. He has requested that his brothers and sister assist in closing this hole, but without knowing why it opened, the task is proving difficult. Magic still remains faulty and hard to control, but the herdlands continue to be places of refuge for those who are fortunate enough to call these lands home.
ORANGEMOON cools off the lands with a a viscious force. Colder than normal, a sign of things to come during Frostfall, Helovia is bathed in a rich tropical lushness - albiet a cold one. The coastlines of the Dragon's Throat are pelted constantly by tidal waves, and the desert climate is humid but chilly. Ice begins to form early in the Aurora Basin leaving the winding trails slick and dangerous. The mists of the World's Edge coat everything in a glistening crystalline shine which encourages mould to grow everywhere. The Spectral Marsh is the only area which remains fertile, blissfully temperature and lush.

WEAVER, Corporal of the Aurora Basin, is a relatively recent addition to Helovia and has taken it by storm. Branded with the seal of Death on her chest, intrigue and interest follow both her past and present. Though she is assuredly beautiful, her sometimes sharp personality reveals that there is more to this uni-peg hybrid than meets the eye. Proving herself able on the battlefield in the Basin’s warrior ranks, we can’t wait to see her test her mettle against the looming Kaos happenings! Congratulations!

Watching the group begin to gather all around Kaj from her place just off to the side of the commotion the pale mare couldn't help but feel nervous. This was going to be a big day and somehow she had managed to pull a leading role out of the festivities. At first she was completely against the whole idea of having to speak up in front of everyone and give directions but slowly Kaj had managed to convince her to step forward. This was her chance to help out the family that had given her so much throughout the years and to have a little fun as well. It had been quite fun designing the obstacle course for her race along with the help of her friends and family, without them she doubted she could have ever pulled it off in time for today’s festivities.
As the main gathering quickly drew to a close she moved forth to take her spot to brief those who wanted to participate in the first annual Hidden Falls Obstacle Race. Hopping up onto one of the rocky ledges nearby so as to make herself taller and more noticeable she gazed out to the first obstacle of the course only a short distance away. The first task that must be completed to move onto the next one would be what they had come to call the Slip N Slider. Laughing at the memory of all the strange and humorous names they had come up with at the last get together she was glad they had finally managed to stop laughing long enough to decide on the obstacle names. The first obstacle was one of the most challenging in her opinion for it was a 700 foot climb straight up the side of one of the hills only to have to descend back down the other side. If that didn't scare you off the slick and dangerous conditions made for quite the treacherous climb. Frostfall weather had given them huge areas of black ice, large icicles protruding from the hillside and last but not least the deep snow concealing much of the climbing route. Contestants needed to be careful navigating the route so that they made it back in one piece. At the top stood one of the four giant torches they had constructed to light the way burning brightly with a lovely blue flame she herself had provided. This was going to be a blast and on the plus side at least she didn't have to try and make that climb again.
Clearing her throat to gather everyone’s attention she finally spoke with surprising confidence to go over the details. “Everyone interested in competing in the first annual Hidden Fall’s Obstacle Race please gather around!” Giving a moment for those who had not seen her standing there to realize who was speaking she continued once more to provide all the details and rules of the coming race.
It took only a couple short minutes to deliver all the details before she turned her head to Suli and the rest of the dragons who would be flying overhead to monitor the pack’s progress. Nodding to them with a smirk she watched them take flight ready to oversee the racecourse from above. Looking back to the contestants eagerly awaiting the start she spoke once more. “Ready, Set, GO!!”

Breath pooled around Öde's dark snout in visible clouds; he often fancied in his youth that he was a dragon in training. Today though, a stud grown even if not aged much, he used the exhales as a measure of vigor against his foes. Proudly his head curled upon his strong nape, his triple crowns cutting through the air as he shook his head in excitement and blew out loudly through his nose. Impatient to begin and exposure his prowess and perfection, Öde dug out a cleft in the snow with a foreleg, expelling the energy that competition had stirred in him after this winter decay in the Basin.
The fire that burned inside of him any time he was to go head to head with some one else would have made him a fine warrior, if a stupid one for the time being. Öde had his finer points, though none would know it in this moment of boyish peacocking. He was an intellectual at heart, and his recent change of career would suit him; but he longed to feel the urge of his body crashing against another's, his muscles tiring then snapping and rebuilding. This was not war, but he could make it so.
Leering over his shoulder at the other contestants, Öde flashed his signature wolf grin. He was almost too busy sneering at everyone else to heed the call to action, but save for a moment's hesitation he was off at the mare's command, throwing himself full force at the climb. His nostrils flares, his lungs heaved, and the dragon inside blew out more smoke than ever before as Öde grunted his way up the 700 foot slope. He was thankful for his cloven hooves which made it easier to gain purchase on the rocks and the snow, and he had some experience with mountains due to his basin homeland. Still, this was arduous, and somehow he felt a sweat crawling on his nape even as Frostfall's teeth remained bared fiercely.

Frostfall seemed to have remembered this place as an afterthought as compared to the Basin. The lithe blue’s form moved easily over the earth, unhindered by towering snow drifts or slick ice that may have slowed her at home. It was beautiful here, that was for sure. It was so alive with life and laughter, and the young warrior wondered how this land looked when festivities weren’t filling the time.
She came upon a white mare, the equine’s body kissed with light dapples. No wings gave the fae flight, and no horn crowned her head. Ki’irha dipped her head to the mare in silent greeting. She had come to the right place, as it wasn’t long before Brisa began discussing rules of the competition. At the conclusion of the white’s announcement, Ki took her place at the starting like, several paces to the side of a large black buck, an impressive horn upon his brow. She shook herself off and set up, coiling like a serpent. Her ears were flat to her head, and her silver eyes stared ahead at the hill. It did not look too formidable, so a smile pulled at the corner of her lips. She shifted her weight side to side, her breathing slow and steady. Her tail twitched with anticipation, the brush flitting back and forth. She cast her eyes up for a moment, seeing several dragons take off in the air, flying ahead. Their scales reflected the sunlight like jewels. The blue mare returned her eyes to the course, waiting for the signal.
Harsh and loud, the white mare yelled the signal. The spangled mare burst from a standstill, lunging into a gallop. Long legs carried her fast, her thin form not burdened by excessive weight. A white banner flew behind her as her white curls were held up by the wind she left in her wake. She hit the hill, cloven hooves digging into the cold, semi-frozen ground, propelling her forward. Once upon it, the cobalt mare realized how steep it actually was. She paced herself, being sure not to burn her energy on her ascent. This was the first obstacle after all, and she did not want to burn herself out on her way up this awful hill. And who knew what else she would encounter on her climb? It was a gamble, and she was all about controlling what she could, before leaving the rest up to chance.

With the conversations around the large fires wearing down, Rohan begins to shift his attention elsewhere. This land is new and unfamiliar to him, and while he is not anxious in this setting, he is still not entirely comfortable with wandering about freely. Flicking his long tail about his flanks, the tiger-striped stallion wanders away from the circle that he had found himself at, muscled sinews shifting beneath his skin, now hairy with the frigid bite of Frostfall.
One fluted ear turns when he hears a mare’s voice rise above the gentle din of the others, shouting about something or other—the Hidden Fall’s First Annual Obstacle Course. Rohan purses his brown lips, nodding his antlered head once before he turns on his flanks and walks, soon joining the gathering that had begun to form around the base of the rock on which the pale mare is standing. Having caught word of the Fall’s festivities on the winds rather than the mouth of another, he hadn’t been entirely sure of the events that would be hosted. An obstacle course sound exciting, competitive, and challenging—immediately appealing to the stallion’s interest.
Settling at the invisible line where everyone seems to be placing themselves, the Warlander stands among the contestants, green eyes sweeping briefly over his competition. At first glance he recognizes none of the faces, and so trails his gaze forward—towards their path. A mountain of a hill rises ahead of them. Having lived in a valley of plains and coastlines, Rohan knows well that a mound can be deceiving in its size, and so he prepares himself accordingly—but he can already tell that the rolling hills of Etherim weren’t quite this formidable.
Snorting a wispy white breath from his nostrils and shaking out his thick, unruly mane, Rohan shifts his weight, eager to move. So coiled is his body that he nearly trips over himself at the sound of release, forcing the weight of his body faster than his hooves, but with only a single stumble he catches himself, thrusting forward mightily. The Warlander is not as quick and agile as some of the other contestants, but he is strong, and so doesn’t have to slow his pace as much as toughened muscles force him up towards the small mountain’s peak. Travel-hardened hooves find their way relatively easily, although Rohan finds himself watching his step, trying not to slip on the frozen ground.

Ashamin had wandered from the campfire's festivities and found himself at the base of a very steep and icy-looking hill. The immediate response was to turn away and avoid such a clamorous climb, but the mare upon that rocky outcropping, presumably another host of the Hidden Falls herd, was seeming to encourage that others try and make the ascent. At its top lingered a blue flame, bright proof that it was possible.
Ashamin shook his stiff hind leg, happy that it had at last ceased to hinder his motion, and bent down his neck. There the young cerndyr slept, and there he must wake. The haruspex looked around as he nudged his unwilling companion, taking note of the fact that this was apparently where his corporal, Ki'irha, had ended up. Ashamin was not surprised at the paths those he knew had taken, it made sense that they would end up in such places.
But he was not one to miss out on opportunity to learn and discover, and this was an opportunity to explore the Hidden Falls to its utmost. Lochan yawned and brayed, revealing a host of small milk teeth, and rolled over where he rested in the Haruspex's sarong. But Ashamin grabbed hold of Lochan's scruff, lifting him carefully and placing him at his own deer hooves. "Time to wake, little one," he whispered kindly, combating the adorable frustration in Lochan's white eyes as best as he could.
He aligned himself at the base of the hill and prepared to set off. It would be a tough climb, but one he would do his best to attempt. Lochan butted the buds of his horns against Ashamin's hock, urging him forth with good luck, before bounding away to rest in the shadow of a nearby rock formation, close to the host. Though Ashamin was hesitant to leave his companion's side, he knew it was safer than risking the climb with Lochan at his breast.
And when the call rang, he had to turn from the sweet features of his 'panion and focus on the ascent. Like others there, he was thankful for the claws of his hooves that let him gain such good grip, and though the ice was treacherous, he'd climbed stiffer and more treacherous mountains while getting lost in the Basin. He could only hope, as he struggled up that hill, close enough to his corporal to flash her a smile and cast a whinny in her direction, that he could maintain his endurance. His tail waved long, a tool for incredibly balance, and he soldiered upwards with a look of determination.
