"Where brilliance is good and madness is better..."
Helovia Info
Helovia opened in February 2012! We are an active fantasy equine RPG
Where once the world narrowed into naught but gray dust and desolation, the gods called for life. Wielding the elements of fire and light, dark and wind, earth and water, spark and time, they have created Helovia. The realm is set within the mythical globe of Loorien, a planet rich with all variety of creatures and blessed with all manner of magic. Originally populated by nomadic, tribal characters, they've since grown into massive empires saturated with culture and history. Separated into four distinct segments of Helovia, called "The Regions," each band of horse strong enough and capable enough, took up the power and responsibility of leadership. Unicorns, old, wise and mysterious, took to the north, hidden in forests of mists and shadows and rarely making themselves known beyond their cliffs of the World's Edge. Equines, vast, organized and militaristic, split into two, one group went north to the Windtossed Foothills and the other group went south to the Dragon's Throat. Pegasus remained nomadic, making their homes in various parts of The Wilds in a migratory manner. For many generations, the land was peaceful and calm, but peace was never the way of the gods. With a clash of argument, war and bloodshed massacred Helovia, and in the aftermath, the realm was eerily quiet. Now, as newcomers sweep into this land, they are met with the lingering bitterness of the gods and the struggle to reclaim what was lost. Nothing remains safe or certain while sorcerers and soldiers alike brood and bide their time for revenge, honor and glory.

Only the herdlands have a source of light, but lamp-trees with glowing leaves and branches sporadically line the popular roads and paths from place to place.
Doppleganger Plot ☼ - 6/20/13 - The God of Time is still struggling to close the rift though which the dopplegangers have come. He has requested that his brothers and sister assist in closing this hole, but without knowing why it opened, the task is proving difficult. Magic still remains faulty and hard to control, but the herdlands continue to be places of refuge for those who are fortunate enough to call these lands home.
ORANGEMOON cools off the lands with a a viscious force. Colder than normal, a sign of things to come during Frostfall, Helovia is bathed in a rich tropical lushness - albiet a cold one. The coastlines of the Dragon's Throat are pelted constantly by tidal waves, and the desert climate is humid but chilly. Ice begins to form early in the Aurora Basin leaving the winding trails slick and dangerous. The mists of the World's Edge coat everything in a glistening crystalline shine which encourages mould to grow everywhere. The Spectral Marsh is the only area which remains fertile, blissfully temperature and lush.

Character of the Month for

WEAVER, Corporal of the Aurora Basin, is a relatively recent addition to Helovia and has taken it by storm. Branded with the seal of Death on her chest, intrigue and interest follow both her past and present. Though she is assuredly beautiful, her sometimes sharp personality reveals that there is more to this uni-peg hybrid than meets the eye. Proving herself able on the battlefield in the Basin’s warrior ranks, we can’t wait to see her test her mettle against the looming Kaos happenings! Congratulations!

"IT IS BETTER TO HAVE DREAMED A THOUSAND DREAMS THAT NEVER WERE THAN TO HAVE NEVER DREAMED AT ALL." - PUSHKIN
Tatiana still hadn't become accustomed to what the Rift truly had to offer. She had promised her mother she would return here, but the Rift had defied her expectations. She had been raised in a land that was stark and cold. The Rift was anything but, to say the very least. Tatiana felt like she had adapted well to this strange place, but often felt the longing for a simpler life. However the final promise to her dying mother bound her here; a vow was not something taken lightly.
She still struggled, on some days, with the circumstances that had brought her to this place. Watching her family fall one by one had been the most difficult type of pain to withstand. She had a theory that watching her family's suffering was what made it so easy to ignore her own. Perhaps that's why she survived - she was better able to push away the pain that consumed her in favor of theirs. She still wore the scars of her past - some invisible, some plain as day to anyone who crossed her path. Her ribs were still visible beneath her iridescent coat. Hips and shoulders made sharp angles where there should have been smooth curves. Still, she knew the external signs of her past would heal long before those she held inside.
She hadn't been to this particular part of the Rift before. Clearly her parents had some attachment to this place - what other reason would her mother have for directing her back here? However there had been no elaboration and Tatiana had done little in the way of exploring. Her green eyes flickered over the strange landscape. It was unlike anything she had seen, which was not a strange occurrence since she had settled here.
The bamboo here did not stand in even, neat rows as would be expected. Instead the stalks twisted and bent at strange angles. They created endless mazes - some well lit, some dark from where the bamboo twisted into mangled tunnels. There were strange gashes (from claws, perhaps?) in some of the stalks where a strange, sour smelling liquid seeped from them. Tatiana couldn't bring herself to determine if this…ooze, for lack of a better word, held any medicinal benefits. She had learned her lesson about some of the plant life in the Rift. Even the most innocent looking flowers could sting like acid. She, of all people, should know that.
Regardless of its quirks, this looked like a promising place to find some space - some time to herself. Even though she had spent much of her time alone, since coming here she had found that the Rift was a relative hive of activity, and keeping her guard up was proving to be exhausting. Maybe now she could finally find some much needed peace.

The Rift...
He had been sent here. The powers that be, the 'Red Council', had banished him to this side of the world, and he grit his teeth together, knowing exactly why. He was good. Too good. What did you do with those who were too close? Too smart? You sent them on a mission which would get you buried. One day, he would return, proudly show that he was still alive, but until then, he would do as he was instructed. His two, brightly golden eyes stared with cold intelligence at the wall of ringed, skinny trees, not at all used to this climate.
Dvorak had been sent on behalf of someone in the Rift to watch after some princess, and his only goal was to make sure that she remained - at least somewhat - alive. Liquid seeped from trees, the water was questionable, and for being trapped in a damn forest, there was very little to eat. Years of training helped him retain his muscular, rough figure, but his mission was underweight. Everything here looked sick and dying, and he snorted his soft, black nostrils, looking around for the little white princess.
His eyes settled on her in the distance, and he trotted toward her, growling. "Why you venture without me?" he asked sternly. "You get lost. You die." He hoped that she would actually take his word, for once. Dvorak narrowed his eyes at her, trying to get her to behave, and he shook his rustic hair, pressing onward in this land of many people going in great circles. He wanted out of these fucking maze trees. Out. Far away, out.
He didn't know why he had to watch her. He didn't know who she was. This was his mission. Any details could be found out as he went.

And just like that the illusion of peace shattered.
She rolled her eyes.
Apparently, one of the things that her mother had failed to mention was that the reason that she had left the Rift in the first place was because she was some kind of Royalty. Tatiana had never been raised as royalty. The thought of even being royalty was so far beyond her imagination that she couldn't even fathom the idea. But even though her little family lived like peasants in the snowy mountains, the Rift remembered.
Returning to the Rift meant that Tatiana inherited the title that she never knew she had. And there was another perk, if you could possibly call it that. Apparently, when you were the last of your family line - a royal family line - you are no longer trusted with your own survival, even though Tatiana had done a pretty damn good job to this point.
It obviously wasn't enough to convince the powers that be. Because Tatiana found herself saddled with a bodyguard. It really was unfortunate that he was so damn attractive. What a waste for the persistent pain in her ass. To some extent she could understand that it was his job to follow her around, but he didn't have to push all her buttons.
"Oh yes. I forgot. I'm completely helpless!" she said, plastering a condescending smile on her face. "Thank the Gods you're here now."
She took a few exaggerated steps forward and mischief lit up in her green eyes. "Oh but I'm just so…weak." She wobbled, theatrically, falling dramatically to her haunches before she was sitting - literally - on the ground before him. "I just don't think I'll make it."
Then she swung her head around and leveled her gaze at him and the mischief was gone.
There was just a challenge in her gaze.
