"Where brilliance is good and madness is better..."
Helovia Info
Helovia opened in February 2012! We are an active fantasy equine RPG
Where once the world narrowed into naught but gray dust and desolation, the gods called for life. Wielding the elements of fire and light, dark and wind, earth and water, spark and time, they have created Helovia. The realm is set within the mythical globe of Loorien, a planet rich with all variety of creatures and blessed with all manner of magic. Originally populated by nomadic, tribal characters, they've since grown into massive empires saturated with culture and history. Separated into four distinct segments of Helovia, called "The Regions," each band of horse strong enough and capable enough, took up the power and responsibility of leadership. Unicorns, old, wise and mysterious, took to the north, hidden in forests of mists and shadows and rarely making themselves known beyond their cliffs of the World's Edge. Equines, vast, organized and militaristic, split into two, one group went north to the Windtossed Foothills and the other group went south to the Dragon's Throat. Pegasus remained nomadic, making their homes in various parts of The Wilds in a migratory manner. For many generations, the land was peaceful and calm, but peace was never the way of the gods. With a clash of argument, war and bloodshed massacred Helovia, and in the aftermath, the realm was eerily quiet. Now, as newcomers sweep into this land, they are met with the lingering bitterness of the gods and the struggle to reclaim what was lost. Nothing remains safe or certain while sorcerers and soldiers alike brood and bide their time for revenge, honor and glory.

Only the herdlands have a source of light, but lamp-trees with glowing leaves and branches sporadically line the popular roads and paths from place to place.
Doppleganger Plot ☼ - 6/20/13 - The God of Time is still struggling to close the rift though which the dopplegangers have come. He has requested that his brothers and sister assist in closing this hole, but without knowing why it opened, the task is proving difficult. Magic still remains faulty and hard to control, but the herdlands continue to be places of refuge for those who are fortunate enough to call these lands home.
ORANGEMOON cools off the lands with a a viscious force. Colder than normal, a sign of things to come during Frostfall, Helovia is bathed in a rich tropical lushness - albiet a cold one. The coastlines of the Dragon's Throat are pelted constantly by tidal waves, and the desert climate is humid but chilly. Ice begins to form early in the Aurora Basin leaving the winding trails slick and dangerous. The mists of the World's Edge coat everything in a glistening crystalline shine which encourages mould to grow everywhere. The Spectral Marsh is the only area which remains fertile, blissfully temperature and lush.

Character of the Month for
June, 2017
WEAVER, Corporal of the Aurora Basin, is a relatively recent addition to Helovia and has taken it by storm. Branded with the seal of Death on her chest, intrigue and interest follow both her past and present. Though she is assuredly beautiful, her sometimes sharp personality reveals that there is more to this uni-peg hybrid than meets the eye. Proving herself able on the battlefield in the Basin’s warrior ranks, we can’t wait to see her test her mettle against the looming Kaos happenings! Congratulations!

erthë
you're so cold but you feel alive
The sunlight was mercilessly bright after the red dusk beneath the trees. She closed her eyes against it as she darted out into the open, stumbling and so weak from exhaustion that she couldn't bring herself to stay on all four. With a dry sob Erthë collapsed into the snow and just lay there, every spindly limb splayed out like a fallen champion... which she was, come to think of it. Barely a week old, and she had fought a battle that grown stallions would hesitate to dabble in.
But she didn't want to think of that. She didn't want to think of anything, didn't want to do anything anymore. She was hungry and tired, she missed her parents, she wasn't entirely sure how she would get back to them after so recklessly running off on her own, and she had lost track of uncle Badger in the midst of all the chaos after the battle - but she wasn't thinking of that.
A groan worked its way up through her throat as she pressed herself deeper into the cool, clean whiteness. The sun was warmer than a few days ago, enough to scratch the surface of her skin with red-hot claws that warmed and burned at the same time. It thawed the upper layers of the deep drifts into a grainy putty, but if she pushed herself down deep it became cleaner, colder, far more comfortable for one who had more in common with winter and ice than this thing called spring.
The chill felt good against her bruises too. All of her ached, from the left clove that had gone oddly numb after stepping into that foul, sizzling, dribbly... (no, not that, think of something else) to her shoulders, sore after bumping into legs and knees and flying hooves as the warriors kept surging back and forth in time with the roaring of the bear (no no NO! Something else, quick, anything...) Her wings ached too; the stubby ugly chicken wings where down was falling off and other, longer and sharper feathers had begun to grow out in earnest. They were itchy and swollen and a bit sore, just like the lumps on her head where tiny horns had begun to work their way through the skin. She was a bit proud of having a piece of both mother and father but right now Erthë wished she had been more like uncle Badger who had neither, or maybe like Vlasi who changed between this and that in a single CRACK that surely didn't hurt at all!
Slowly the filly began to calm down as she kept her mind occupied. Tiny muscles relaxed one by one, the legs stilled in the snow... but only for as long as she managed to not think about the battle. As soon as her mind strayed a spasm shot through the fragile body, forcing out a whimper or terrified squeal... only to still once more.
She didn't even notice the tears that rolled down the cheeks, drawing pale lines of cleanliness bloody filth that sullied her innocently white coat.
She couldn't register any emotions at this point. She was too buried in her thoughts and the battle at Blood Falls to even really register anything else but that. So she had traveled further North, away from the bloody battle and into the quiet, where even in the spring there was still snow, and the breeze could still offer frostbite to those who weren't careful. Tears fell upon her cheeks, dripping down her chin and into the ground, causing a trail of drops to follow behind her speckled frame. She felt betrayed by her Gods, her faith shaken and her mind in a tizzy as to what to think now. She thought her beloved Gods were loyal, kind hearted and determined to keep the peace as often as possible, but it turned out she was wrong. Sucking in a icy breath she sniffled, continuing deeper into the Frostbreath Steppe despite her aching body begging her to rest. She had minor burns on her speckled coat, tainting the ivory with smoky singe and red skin, all signs that she was going to be sore for quite awhile. She didn't want to think about those who had actually fought in the battle, instead of simply trying to stop it and getting caught in the crossfire.
Her head was low, nose nearly pressed to the ground and wings drooping by her sides in a melancholy fashion, eyes blank with tears stuck in the corners. She was too tired to cry now, and simply remained numb. She was about to simply collapse where she was, willing to let the snow and ice take her pain away, when the sound of groaning caught her attention. Immediately her ears pricked up, dainty skull lifting and wings spreading in preparation for what was to come, before inky legs finally brought herself towards the noise to investigate. What she found utterly shocked her, and without thinking she was rushing forward, pacing around the babe and freezing, realizing it might not be the best idea to startle the poor lamb. Granted, she was still but a child too, but she had known what it was like to be left alone when she had been born, to be thought of as nothing and left to rot.
Had this poor child been granted the same fate? Did her parents not deem her worthy and thus left her to perish? The thought made Myrrine sick. She let hazel orbs gaze over the child, noting the gorgeous ivory coat maimed by cuts and bruises, the developing wings and horns attempting to push through her skull. Her tail was leonine, something Myrrine had only seen in this land, and she seemed to have the face of an angel. She was beautiful, and she couldn't believe anyone would attempt to leave such a precious creature to starve. Lowering her skull whilst stepping back, she attempted to come off as passive, friendly and sweet, so as not to startle the babe with her concern. She was injured and trying to recover, and if the spotted girl remembered she had been in the battle with the bear. She tried to hold back her emotions, the fears of what had happened to her and simply smiled, studying the dove with masked anxiety before speaking softly, "Hello, are you alright? You look like you took quite the hit there. Is there anything I can do for you? I know a little bit about herbs and can assist in those scratches, or if you'd just like some company too I'd be happy to chat! My name is Myrrine, it's nice to meet you!" She hoped her voice had sounded cheerful, happy and full of life, and not like she felt; terrified that this poor little girl had been orphaned just as she had been a little over a year ago.
"Speech"
OOC: Ugh, this is so trash. Forgive me, but I got it!

you're so cold but you feel alive
Despite the spotted one's best efforts, Erthë flinched and jerked her head up in fright as she heard the voice. She hadn't even heard the other approach, which was alarming in and of itself, and when the other also reeked of the horrific aftermath of battle - blood, smoke, death and decaying magic - it was hard not to startle. For a few long seconds she stared wildly at the girl while her instincts struggled between the need to lie down and rest and the urge to flee a possible danger... but as the voice that spoke was both youthful and kind the filly remained in the snow, collapsing back into the thawing, grainy ice with a weary sigh.
"I want my mommy" she mumbled into the cool, blue shadows on the ground. "and Papa, and... and!"
Tears welled up again and this time they caused her to sob, a helpless hiccup that shook her tiny frame and caused every bruise, ache and burn to sting and hiss in agony. The blind left eye that had been touched by the dead god's blood leaked more than tears; it hurt more than both the foot and the ugly singed hair on the neck but it was all so painful that she thought she couldn't stand it.
Myrrine was really very nice, and any other day the winged lass would have been overjoyed to find someone who was almost her own age, but today she was in pain. She couldn't find her smile at all, only cry in her aching loneliness - because no one was good enough if they weren't Shadow right now.
