— “Isn’t that obvious?” The wind seemed to whisper back in a regretful tune. In reality it had been the mare that had just come ashore that had let it fall from her lips coldly. As much as she had wanted, she had not been able to sneak up at him, for the boat that had carried her across the water had squeaked in complain when the wakes carried them the last feet onto the gritty sands of the beach. The priestess had been wearing her veil of mist, but somehow she had been stripped naked as soon as her hoof touched the shore. Something is wrong, she thought, just before her eyes recognized the black unicorn.

She glared at the stallion she remembered to be at the Fall’s Festival. She remembered him as rude and annoying, for she probably blamed him for the fact that she hadn’t been able to get into a more in-depth conversation with Ashamin, Haruspex of the Basin. But her tone was not cold because of that. It was because she regretfully agreed with him.

“To what does the Throat owe this pleasure?” she called as she curled up her lips into a protocol-following smile, but her slightly raised eyebrows crowned the silence of her gold eyes. Slowly her legs had drifted closer to him. The Diviner had not forgotten his interest in the Sun God. “Or to whom,” she questioned again as she recalled the fact that he and his rotten stench had never even introduced themselves, therefore deserving her cold shoulder back at the bonfires. Still, in the waters of her mind had started to form ripples as her curiosity grew.
