The element of surprise was not the best tactic to use on a horse bonded to a companion. Henrietta alerts Caleb of the oncoming flurry of horse flesh and feathers by tugging at their connection. Caleb, still oddly disconnected, doesn't take notice of the pull from Henrietta's mind. To the brute, it feels like all of Henrietta's other attempts to get him to open up. He does not know the tug is for an oncoming, volcanic, figure. Her lips tighten and eyes narrow as she decides that maybe her master does need to get beaten up. She is tired of this cold, introverted stallion. Any emotion from him, even anger, would be better than this eerie coldness. Thus, Henrietta smirks, settling back down and watching. The beast finds it odd Henrietta's mental pulls go from urgent to a calm nothingness. For a moment, his heart stops, worried something happened to her. Brows furrow above silver eyes as he spots his companion through the downpour, sitting with a wolfish smirk. Damn her.

The pain is sudden, surprising, his lids flickering shut as the feeling of a sharp horn grazing his side bores into him, igniting his frame with adrenaline and fury, rage. Caleb chides himself, I asked for it, this stallion is just delivering. His right barrel-ribs is marred by a paper-thin cut only about a foot long. His fur is scraped away and in some spots, blood dots the naked skin, only to be washed away with the sting of cool rain. If it were not raining, Caleb predicts this wound would not be disastrous, not dripping down his barrel, cascading in a waterfall of red. The glint of red is almost imperceptible on his soaked, ebony skin.

Water drips into his steel eyes as they focus on this figure, blinking furiously to keep water from getting inside of them. The figure is recognized as Ilios, a presumably avid recruiter for whatever herd he dwells in. The young stallion turns to face the beast, the edges of his creamy figure blurred by the heavy rain, but Caleb still knows that it is him. "Ilios," he purrs venomously, a saber watching his prey. "how nice of you to join me." A smirk falls on his lips, but Caleb knows this will not be an easy feat. They are evenly matched for the most part, but Ilios is marginally shorter than the beast.

After a brief pause given by Caleb's odd greeting, the stinging scrape simmers down slightly, the bite of Ilios' horn lessening by the second, the cold rain drops easing the heat that radiates from the slight wound. In a sudden flurry of activity and movement, Caleb lunges forward, jaw unhitched as he ducks to the right, attempting an attack on Ilios' left side. Teeth search for rib-skin as he tries to move past Ilios, hardly making any headway in moving due to his hooves getting stuck in the deep, wet, sand. As he (attempts to) moves forwards, he kicks out with his cloven hind legs, trying to hit Ilios' barrel and cause bruising or maybe a tear in his skin due to the points of his cloven hooves. The combination of a bite and kick is powerful, but with the sluggish conditions, the chance of high accuracy with either attack is uncertain. If Caleb were older, more skillful, perhaps he could have more faith in the aim of his attacks on this rainy day, but many things will up to luck and chance today for the 17.1hh brute.

He continues on for a few sluggish canter strides before sloppily spinning back around, in hopes to face Ilios (or his butt, if he hasn't moved). His hooves send sloppy sprays of wet, muddy, sand flying. His chrome legs would no doubt be covered with mud if it weren't for the rain constantly washing off any spec of dirt, sweat, or blood. His nostrils are flared, lungs inhaling and exhaling with violent breaths. Veins can be seen around Caleb's body as his heart furiously pumps his blood. His legs cry out, unused to working so hard to do so little. Caleb will use much more energy in this fight than most due to an even playing field and sloppy conditions that he cannot admit he is used to. Not to mention, Henrietta watches passively, no doubt curious as to what will happen, but lingering on the sides waiting for a flood of emotions from Caleb's side of the connection. Perhaps she has given up on Caleb all together.

"blah blah blah."
Endless blue, heavy rain & thunder/lightning, midday, 1/3 attacks, 740 words :: Caleb moves towards Ilios after getting scraped, moves to ilios' left, tries to bite his ribs then continues, kicking out presumably around his barrel. i would've gotten this sooner, but was mystified as to what way i should reply xD It'll probably be faster next time
