A different tone. An energy. A desire. It comes in sharper and more focused. Taken off his guard at it the gold turns most confusedly to look at the dear girl, though his body protested. He finds her more focused on it than he anticipated. One hark slips back but then forward again. His guard down too much to resist. To be honest it had always seemed like a certainty that the moon held more for him than the sun in the day. He had never thought much further beyond it. So he is quiet for a moment, thinking.

And for a while in the conversation he didn’t answer, lost in his thoughts. When she speaks again, asking about tasting something the gold finds himself most confused. He had asked the question but he revealed just how far the battles of the day had stretched his mind. “What?” He asked her, again in the same seriousness, as if he had really forgotten. Even her movement is missed on him. He looks down as she motions at the grass, but the gold can only feel the fire grip on his neck still digging in its claws and he doesn’t move.

So the conversation again moves on. Names, names that’s right he had asked her. Attention was given to her again as she reveals hers, and of course the obvious return. “Thranduil.” None of the usual titles follow. The pride he carried them with broken through the day. For another second he says nothing, but in the dark mists of his mind he was still moving on the path.

Finally he sighs, seeming to settle on something and speaks with a little more clarity than he had previously. “The sun is powerful, and the God who directs it will surely remind you of such.” He pauses though, pulling at the dark strings of thought. “But he burns too bright. Blinding. A prison.” He shifts, a faint grin rising on his lips. “But she, the moon, her light is enough to guide you, feign in purity and beauty. Yet it does not burn so harshly, it is soft and gray, tempting in the shadows of darkness, and holding both them and her light at the same time.” His tassled tail shifts with a contentedness. “And to do it all with a smile.” His own smile rises to say it.

Moving again to shift his tired body the golden seems to come to an end. “Power is not in revealing all you have, in hoping to blind, but in choosing what to show and what to hide in the shadows.” How many times had he found his strength and power in hiding behind some shadow of a lie. To let the sun shine on all parts would render him powerless, and that was not appealing. Of course there were two other gods as well, but the golden’s mind was exhausted and like balloons his thoughts floated off without him.
