It was such a lovely dream to dream. Such a lovely carefree thoughtless act. It’s a pity it wasn’t meant to be in this world.

He lays by her, letting his heavy gold lids slowly drag downward and close. Letting the weight of…of whatever it was fully press on him. And he didn’t think, and he didn’t question. So it was a shame she had to. Her singsong voice doesn’t get a response at first. His body and mind having too quickly slipped into stillness. Plus, she was being ever so gentle. Ever so soft.

Then she speaks again, and he hears, but he does not want to. Where was he from. Harks lean back slightly and his eyes open to be hard and lined. From? Where was he now is the real question. He probably couldn’t have told her that. But from. She keeps going, like reeling in a line, waking him. Then she says it. Aurora Basin. Like a gong going off, his head rises, and body lifts off of hers to go rigid. “The Basin….” She was from the Basin…It broke the spell, shattering the innocence of the moment. The Basin, it had consequences, he had an image, and a title there. If she was there, this was no longer ‘safe’. He groans and his legs, straining, rise him up again.

He wavers as he stands but holds. The words rolling out still foreign, but not so distant. “I have to go.” He doesn’t listen to any pleas or protests. Slowly he turns, moving off.
