I was battered and bruised, my wing still drooped and ached and I still had a clump of my golden feathers missing from it, but at least it wasn't dragging the ground anymore. I had to force myself to look on the bright side of it otherwise I would think about how I hadn't flown since that fight against the bear god. I would be scared and depressed that I wouldn't be able to fly again and what good was having wings if I couldn't use them? No, I had to look on the bright side. I was still alive.
I wandered away from the Throat alone and ended up in the Threshold again and as I wandered around I found myself hoping that I wouldn't run into another weirdo like Abaddon. Honestly, I was perfectly content with just wandering, but I heard voices. I really wouldn't have paid it much attention if I hadn't heard Dragomir's name.
Dragomir, the boy that had made me feel better when I wanted the world to swallow me whole. The one who covered my feather in glass to keep it forever, and gifted me the red beads in my mane that made me think about him every time I saw them or heard them clink together.
By the time it really sank in that I really had heard Dragomir's name I wasn't worried about keeping quiet. I crashed through the trees and the bushes like some crazed animal. When was the last time I even saw him? I wondered to myself, wincing as branches snagged my feathers.
"DRAGOMIR!" I shouted his name as I stumble-crashed into the small gathering. A stallion and mare that I had never met before, not that I could remember anyway, were there and there was Dragomir. I couldn't help but smile and laugh as I took off again, my hooves pounding against the ground as I ran at him, to him, into him. I didn't even feel it as my body crashed into his much larger one, but I wrapped my wings around his neck and shoulders. "You're back!"
