Einarr had been obvlious to Megaera's jealousy in the height of the herd meeting, but he was not obvlious to the fact that she was more alluring to him than ever before. Whenever he past the woman on patrol or seeing Mordecai he noticed it. He was no unsullied, no virgin stallion. He was an experienced stag who knew the signs of heat. Einarr, so primal and so rugged, understood desire and nature. He was no stranger to act on it--Mordecai, his daughter, was proof of that. The mating with her biological mother had been nothing more than the warden acting on primal instinct to overcome the mare in her season. Einarr did not think that Megaera would give in to any sort of advancement from him--and so the stallion grunted and closed his mind to the thought when he crossed her path.

He followed her now, however, away from the brilliance of the Sun God. There had been no fight here, unlike the other scenes (as far as the herd had told him). Confusion laced the guardian's mind, and he sought his Sultana for answers. "Megaera!" Einarr called across the water covered sands, dipping his broad wings to circle in front of the woman. His massive body tipped backwards and he landed, rear hooves first, before the bay woman. Einarr let his wings stretch out at his sides, parallel to the ground below him. The waters reflected his feathers brilliantly even under the massive shadow he caused. Einarr let his body rise into his well-kept, militaristic posture, and he looked down at her face. Red-brown eyes met black and he began his quest for answers, "Why no fight with Sun God? Other gods--other lands--have fights." She had been at the other scenes, she had confessed, and Einarr wondered if she knew what was different about this place--or this God.

The dark bloodrider knew that those of the Dragon's Throat revered and followed the Sun God most closely, but his own heart was tied to the Earth God. Father Earth had granted him the grace in life to keep Mordecai alive--with Megaera's help. Even in his mistakes--not that Mordecai was a mistake, but the process of her beginnings were--the Earth was merciful. Einarr had worked hard to please the God and help many in Helovia. He had built many new relationships in his quest, relationships he would keep for some time, he believed. Laedere was a testament to that, and in the back of his mind Einarr made a note to visit the once-supposedly-suicidal stallion, Ashamin.

As the man stood before the Sultana, he could smell her warmth, and his nostrils flared dangerously.

@Megaera
