Aelin

Is it because my life is ten shades of grey,
I pray all ten fade away.

The open skies. Here she belonged.

Her wings were extended to their full breadth, brushing against the low hanging clouds. It was drizzling on to the earth but flying through the dark, damp clouds Aelin was soaked. Yet the water did not bother the girl, the cold slaps of air against her wet skin was a welcome relief from the heat of Tallsun. So coming across a break in the clouds was a surprise for the girl. Around the walls of grey, blue and purple built high but the centre was clear with some sun shining through. Underneath the ground was unlike anything she'd seen before. True her wings were starting to ache, having reached their limit but landing here? It's seemed too scary, spooky even. The girl couldn't quite explain it but there was an...energy here. The ominous feeling of being watched. Perhaps she was simply imagining it, or maybe there was something greater lurking in the essence of this land.

She did not know.

The sight of Hades made her not care.
"Hades!" The girl called to the owl. Wings beating quickly after the owl, soaring after the grey creature that she would recognise from a mile away. There was only one thought and one name. Hawke...Hawke...Hawke. Why had he not come to her? Why had he disappeared from her life? Was he alive? Was he ill? Why did he abandon her? Before the desire to find her twin had overridden all other feelings and thoughts. Now? Now there was a flash or anger and the dull burn of disappointment. Did she not mean everything to Hawke? Because he, he was her entire world. The two figures sped through the skies, in and out of clouds then they began their decent down towards the ground. A figure was there, the tears know flew from her eyes.

Landing upon the rocks a few meters behind her brother, Aelin sniffed. Dual coloured eyes took in their surroundings. They stood on a rocky island, in the distance she could see a land bridge connecting the island back to Helovia. A volcano sat in the middle of the island, was it still active? Yes. Magna leaked from it's sprout, running down the sides and creating more land. Perhaps she should grab Hawke and run, there where many bad feelings about this place; now she could add psychical danger to the list. Yet, the lava itself was unusual, the blue hues where bright and a very foreign concept to the girl, shouldn't it be red?

Her eyes drifted along a ledge. One shrine was covered in black veins, the beautiful blue glowing flowers, another was stained black with ash and charcoal. The sandy filly studied a broken shrine with blackened symbols and lastly one was split in half, the broken piece had tumbled away into the ocean.

An voluntary shudder ran through the girl as she turned back to her twin. "Hawke?" She spoke gently as if he were a spooked foal. "It's me. It's...it's Aelin."

The GOD of the SUN

Burn the whole world down

"This place was once beautiful-"

An illusion of the former glory of the Veins suddenly overlayed itself across the decrepit and dying landscape. Flowers blossomed over the shrines which stood whole and new. Bird chirped somewhere far away, and sunlight littered the beautiful shrouds dedicated to the Gods. A warm breeze blew, causing the illusion to waver. As it did so, the God appeared in a pillar of fire. Flames billowed around his golden and regal form. His glowing gaze turned towards where the illusory magic was slowly buffeting away, and he sighed as it disappeared. Sometimes he missed the

"But there are few things which last in this world." He concluded kindly, turning his antlered-crown towards the small sandy filly. His lips turned upwards in a smile as he gazed upon her. "Aelin, isn't it?" She - and her twin - were the first born of his Ascended - Gaucho. First child of an ascended helovion, period. It didn't take the flourishing of the earth beneath the girl's hooves to know that she was special.

"What brings you here?"

The God folded his flaming wings against his golden pelt, as his quizzical gaze regarded the filly patiently and with a genuine interest. She was the first of Gaucho's brood to ever visit him here, and he was rather surprised. There had been so many before Aelin, and yet here she was, in all of her childish splendor, doing what none of her kin had. Easily he could pry into her mind, see her thoughts for what they were and know her intentions. But, he did enjoy these chats. Often his encounters with the mortals were under much more dire circumstances - plagues and invasions from other Gods. This, he hoped, would prove much more pleasant.
