Cirrus the WindDancer
What the..
Cirrus had never been here when the great Turtle descended upon the lands before. She had never experienced its kindness, its gifts, its beautiful and generous powers. From her place among the clouds above, she watched the lands transform, she heard the bell toll, she saw the crowds crawl and fly and gather to a central location within the great expanse of land that was the Meadow. Cirrus watched, and hesitantly, she decided to partake as well.
Wings bent until she was more streamlined, as the pegasus born for flying descended rapidly towards the ground. It thrilled her, to speed, seemingly out of control, towards the canopies of the trees that seemed to small from so high up, only to save herself at the last safe moment. It hadn't always been that easy - but her years of practice made it look just like that. Easy, she thought, even as her muscles pulled and strained against the forces of the wind and atmosphere to right her body.
With such a gathering, Cirrus feared maybe she would see those she knew - and her fears were realised as she approached, closer and closer, and recognised more and more faces in the crowds.
There was surely an advantage to one's coat being that of the weather? She never, ever looked the same more than once - but Cirrus was not so daft as to think those who knew her would not recognise her, for no others' coats reflected the skies the way hers did.
What would they do to her? Cirrus was as wild as the weather that her coat reflected - she could not be tamed, contained - surely they would not judge her at this gracious meeting between a mighty God and his mortal worshippers.
So Cirrus landed, amidst the crowd, looking only to the great turtle with her icy pools, recognising others but seemingly seeing through them, knowing they were there but choosing to concentrate on something else, something wonderful, something magical.
Cirrus would return to reality soon enough. For now, she would enjoy this crazy tradition, with the rest of Helovia.
