She turned on him, lifting her head from grooming her feathers, to meet his gaze with a smile, bright as the Sun, painted across her rough but beautiful face. He felt his trot extend without his direct command, the muscles pulling his massive body toward the smaller, lithe woman. He lowered his white-marked face and planted a kiss on her poll as she tucked herself under his chin and neck. The heavy, protecting arch of his muscle neck lifted over her, his wings extending to pull her closer to him, to keep her safe under the crook of his massive wings. This Megaera was a lovely one for him to dote on, but there was more to her than this embrace onlookers would surely swoon for. The Sunspear was a wild beast of a mare, as untamable and dangerous as a fire that engulfed an entire forest in the blink of an eye. He nipped at the dip of her shoulder, just where her neck met the wing joint.
She pulled away from him and Einarr could feel his body stiffen, unpleased with the disconnection. He frowned some, looking down her dark eyes as she spoke to him. The question, however, made him soften some. "Twins play across lake. Nizho--strong boy--chase Asaavi--wise girl." He nodded, his voice stern and matter-of-fact. "Einarr have news for Megaera." He followed the statement of their children, knowing the simple observation of their presence within the boarder to calm the mother's worry. He lifted a brow, smirking some with a beam of pride. "Einarr Gladiator. Ampere Chancellor." He took a step back from Megaera, wanting to see her whole expression. He was sure she knew of the decision, being the Sultana of these sands, but the news of it coming from Einarr was different. She was his wife, his mate, his forever. Above their heads the sky rumbled, thunder ringing and threatening to release rain upon them once more. |
