Elsa

That hurt. He should be here- does he not realize that? With the empire that he has built, he was the center of this herd right now. She was simply here to help. She was at least grateful he hadn’t left her in the cold. She may like it, but sometimes, she yearned for this heat. As he confessed his problem, Elsa sighed gently into his shoulder. A mistake. That’s what it was. He wasn’t unsafe. Elsa carefully reached up her muzzle to reach a part of his spine and rubbed gently, not pulling away.

She wasn’t sure what to say- did he want her opinion? She paused for a moment, breathing gently on his back. ”Mistakes happen.” Then she glanced to the companion, whom Edgar had taken a quick liking to. This little thing right here was a reason he couldn’t- shouldn’t leave. ”He will forgive you. He did choose you, no? I don’t know him too well, but I can tell you that it would be impossible to blame you. You try so hard to keep things in, heck I don’t even know your secrets. We all have them, my king. And this is the first break, you are not inherently evil or unsafe. You, in fact, are quiet good for them all.” She paused for a brief moment again. He should already know that he could come to her for these things- she didn’t want to be the damsel in distress all the time. She knew Tembovu needed saving, he just needed to learn to accept that.

”You know, I am here for you.” She nipped lightly at his hide, laughing lightly. ”Sometimes you need help, and you just need to ask for it.” There were a few more insinuations to that, but most of its weight was towards his current problem. She could handle her own problems, not to mention, even if it had been her at the center of his wrath, he wouldn’t stand a chance against her ice magic. Fire couldn’t touch her- not unless she let it. Protection was her strong suit. That’s how she had lived alone for so long, how she learned to win her fights, how she learned to care. It may have taken her a while to notice that, but she was inherently protective rather than offensive.

She paused then for a long silence. There was still a gauge she had to watch. The last thing she wanted to do was send Tembovu off worse than when he had found her. She played along a fine line right now, and she was so afraid to fall off of it now. So she settled for silence, continuing to listen to him, his breathing, his heart. He had no idea of the power he had over her.

She hadn’t noticed Edgar had left, but as she looked over both were gone. Edgar sent her some smug signals but she pushed him back out. Elsa trusted Edgar, but sometimes she wanted moments along- unadulterated. Thankfully he was understanding of her privacy, he knew in time she would tell him about it. The last thing she noticed was him hopping happily toward the large trumpeting companion and rubbing along her legs like a cat.

At least they were getting along. She didn’t know of the bond between Tembovu and his companion, but part of her hoped that he was able to keep her at bay from his problems. Elsa knew how guilty she felt after her emotional outbursts, Edgar was usually just as emotionally drained, and he didn’t even do anything. That was how they developed this small capability of ignoring each other for a bit.
