When given her assignment, Myrrine had happily accepted. She surge of excitement and determination flowing through her caused her heart to beat faster, and she couldn't help but happily smile. Her first mission for the herd! She couldn't hardly wait! With a swish of her tail she was about to leave once being dismissed, but the familiar sight of her spotted companion brought her back towards the group. She smiled widely at him, hazel eyes full of sunshine, only for it to quickly disappear at the sight of his staff coming forth. Without thinking she was approaching him and Tembovu, looking to them both with concern before speaking to Mauja gently," Mauja, is something the matter?" Something wasn't right about the look in his eyes, the way he was so intent on Tembovu with the staff, though unsheathed, wielded at the ready before him. She swallowed hard, listening to Tembovu also voice his concern, causing hers to only rise and her heart to speed up.
Soon it clattered to the ground, causing her to flinch and to watch him with eyes wide as saucers. His words weren't audible enough for her to hear, only the King's, but this was enough to immediately terrify her. The way he swayed and moved as if he were on something caused her to approach at once, to offer her comfort should he need it, or to offer aid should something go wrong. How she longed to have heard what was spoken between the two, to understand for herself what was happening within that complicated brain of the man's. She took in a deep breath, hazel eyes switching between the two anxiously, before turning to Mauja and attempting to press her muzzle to his shoulder. She spoke softly to him, kindly, trying to be as tender as she could with him in case something were about to send him over the edge," I'd like to help you if I can. After all, that's what you did for me once." She smiled at him then, eyes trying to meet his as she giggled gently at the memory of how he had hugged her that night at the Endless Blue. In his own way he had saved her, and that was something she would always be grateful for. She would try to please him, to make him happy as she had for her, to show him that this world wasn't always a sad place to be. She only hoped he would accept it, would acknowledge how much she cared dearly for her spotted friend.
Yes, she didn't have the rapport these two rulers had at one point, but she had the kind mind and tender soul to bring herself closer to others in the strangest of ways. To be rejected by him would hurt, so much so she would probably have to hold back tears, but she also understood that this might not be her battle to face. If she knew the whole story, understood the implications in the underlying information, perhaps she wouldn't have even stepped in at all, wouldn't have even tried to toy with their elaborate web of misery and confusion that these two seemed to have woven around each other. She would have let them figure out what was important for themselves and each other and been on her merry little way for her first herd mission. But she hadn't, she had chosen to stay in order to help her friend in need when he needed it the most. What the outcome would be because of this no one most likely knew, all Myrrine knew was that she needed to help, and that's what she was going to do.
