Wandering alone had been something Seren was so used to, when she had found herself surrounded by them in the Blood Falls, and then after the climatic events of the Rift tearing Helovia open and bringing with it, her and so many others, and their mad raging gods, it had become too much. She had ventured into caves, into other regions but fear...

Fear gripped her like it had done before; it was a partner in life, it had been there ever since that white demon had come to Remi, changed her, made Remi into something else.

Remi became Seren.

Seren ran for her life but the demon dogged her, sitting in her tail, whispering in her ear, changing everything.

When she had come to Helovia, she had fought like a mad creature, seeing the raging God and imaging the demon who had ripped her from her family, seeing the one who had ruined the Rift for them all – the creature. She had been handed something from the beast by a God of Helovia, only to have that ripped away from her by another.

And she was too meek, too cowardly to go after what had been given to her. Seren just let it happen.

Too afraid to face anyone.

Even those who had come with her, fleeing the Rift and venturing into Helovia. So she had hidden herself away, living and existing in shadow and light, never being more than just a figure to be seen. She was nothing more, but fear had subsided.

And in the place of fear was a hollowness, something removed long ago.

Seren was here again. This place, in the wonderful colours and smells of the Rotunda, she felt secure; she felt a safety, a delight in her heart, that surged into the empty shell of her mind. Life was here, and it sang all around how. How she could despair, when life grew so much? Out of her only working eye, she watches the plants dancing their dance upon the breeze, swaying and moving to the wonder that she couldn't here; that she couldn't even see. Wind was there, gentle and light but never giving her more than it's touch, and leaving behind a chill. Seren felt the life here, and into the hollow in her mind, she felt the calm.

Fear was there somewhere, waiting to spring, waiting to make itself known again. Yet she does not feel it now, even if she knows it lurks, waiting, like a tiger preparing to spring upon it's prey. Seren is fear's prey, and her weakness all too strong.

So she comes to the rotunda and settles, looking out into the water before her. She basks in the moment of calm that floods her, although she may never feel this again... for all she knew, the demon, the fear, were waiting for her, just behind her. And so she sighs, craning her head – a fully grown mare now, no longer a filly, standing upon the side of the gentle flowing water, amid the colours and scents of the magic about her; alone, and silent.

"my thoughts are stars i cannot fathom into constellations,
so if you be my star then i'll be your sky"

The past is a blur she couldn't bring into focus, pieces missing and altogether not fitting properly in their places. Huge chunks of her life were simply gone: if one could not remember them, had they happened at all? Surely each event, recalled or not, was what led to the creation of who she was in that moment; but what was the significance if she couldn't pull the memories to the surface, to reflect upon them, to build from them?

And yet... What would she have done with them? The reminders of the demons in a land she spent but breaths, scared away from all they had carried in their palms, the threats they held in their breasts. Would it make her even more terrified of being in an unfamiliar place, surrounded by those she was supposed to know, already weary of all things horned?

Would she run even farther than she had before?

If given the choice, would she even decide to remember?

What good would the events of a past filled with nothing but fear and terror do for her then, a time when she was free to become someone new, to erase whatever wrongdoings she had committed? Was it even worth going on that seemingly labyrinthine adventure to regain what she had lost? She couldn't say why she wanted to get them back so badly, but it was enough to hide the answers to the questions continuing to bubble up, attempting to sway her into ceasing. She just didn't have any idea what she was getting herself into.
It was possible, when all was finished, that she could very well regret what she had done to get that far.

Perhaps that would be the very thing to draw her toward a creature she would never had sought to cross paths with.
To grow close to, to have a connection with.

She had lost her way from the Edge and all Elsa had given to her. She didn't know which direction she was headed, wasn't sure what she would even find. The name of the Throat hung in her mind but, as she would find, would not come to fruition. Instead she would find herself in a place she never knew existed, with or without her memories to hold.
She gently pushed through the draping vines and grasping branches to stretch her head toward the filtering light off water, desperate for a rest someplace there would be no one else. It would not be in her luck, however, as it was too late to turn herself around in the brush without be noticed; she spotted the glowing form of another ahead, after not taking care to be quiet. She was heard. She would be seen.

Serenity couldn't know that she had come across that galaxy-toned girl before, a time when she was not afraid of horns or what their wearers wanted. She wouldn't remember helping her, in the land of demons, and she couldn't wonder if she would be recognized... or just a ghost in the girl's past.
