"Where brilliance is good and madness is better..."
Helovia Info
Helovia opened in February 2012! We are an active fantasy equine RPG
Where once the world narrowed into naught but gray dust and desolation, the gods called for life. Wielding the elements of fire and light, dark and wind, earth and water, spark and time, they have created Helovia. The realm is set within the mythical globe of Loorien, a planet rich with all variety of creatures and blessed with all manner of magic. Originally populated by nomadic, tribal characters, they've since grown into massive empires saturated with culture and history. Separated into four distinct segments of Helovia, called "The Regions," each band of horse strong enough and capable enough, took up the power and responsibility of leadership. Unicorns, old, wise and mysterious, took to the north, hidden in forests of mists and shadows and rarely making themselves known beyond their cliffs of the World's Edge. Equines, vast, organized and militaristic, split into two, one group went north to the Windtossed Foothills and the other group went south to the Dragon's Throat. Pegasus remained nomadic, making their homes in various parts of The Wilds in a migratory manner. For many generations, the land was peaceful and calm, but peace was never the way of the gods. With a clash of argument, war and bloodshed massacred Helovia, and in the aftermath, the realm was eerily quiet. Now, as newcomers sweep into this land, they are met with the lingering bitterness of the gods and the struggle to reclaim what was lost. Nothing remains safe or certain while sorcerers and soldiers alike brood and bide their time for revenge, honor and glory.

Only the herdlands have a source of light, but lamp-trees with glowing leaves and branches sporadically line the popular roads and paths from place to place.
Doppleganger Plot ☼ - 6/20/13 - The God of Time is still struggling to close the rift though which the dopplegangers have come. He has requested that his brothers and sister assist in closing this hole, but without knowing why it opened, the task is proving difficult. Magic still remains faulty and hard to control, but the herdlands continue to be places of refuge for those who are fortunate enough to call these lands home.
ORANGEMOON cools off the lands with a a viscious force. Colder than normal, a sign of things to come during Frostfall, Helovia is bathed in a rich tropical lushness - albiet a cold one. The coastlines of the Dragon's Throat are pelted constantly by tidal waves, and the desert climate is humid but chilly. Ice begins to form early in the Aurora Basin leaving the winding trails slick and dangerous. The mists of the World's Edge coat everything in a glistening crystalline shine which encourages mould to grow everywhere. The Spectral Marsh is the only area which remains fertile, blissfully temperature and lush.

Character of the Month for
June, 2017
WEAVER, Corporal of the Aurora Basin, is a relatively recent addition to Helovia and has taken it by storm. Branded with the seal of Death on her chest, intrigue and interest follow both her past and present. Though she is assuredly beautiful, her sometimes sharp personality reveals that there is more to this uni-peg hybrid than meets the eye. Proving herself able on the battlefield in the Basin’s warrior ranks, we can’t wait to see her test her mettle against the looming Kaos happenings! Congratulations!

I will give your heart a place to rest when everything you had has turned and left.
I'll weave your names into my ribcage; lock your hearts inside my chest.
The stallion kept patrolling.
The dog was off hunting.
Clean, thick, metal-shod hooves brought the stallion closer and closer to the south and further and further away from his home. After his patrol with Soren, the Czar decided he needed to venture out on his own patrol away from the borders. The Earth God's warning sat in Archibald's stomach like a rock, rolling back and forth heavily and smashing against his insides violently. All he could do was be on constant alert and lookout for the ever-shifting thing the gods could not detect. Archibald moved down from his homeland, scouring the earth and keeping his eyes and ears sharp. Loretta, dragged by her throbbing hunger, left his side to fill herself. He knew she would return to him when she was ready and full. She was loyal, more loyal than anyone else in his life. He believed their connection to be even higher than the shared soul they were bound over. The Earth God had made her for him--it was the only explanation.
Heading past the heart caves, Archibald let his patrolling take him into the scrubland that surrounded. The grasses--tall enough to cover a normal horse--tickled his sides just above the dip of his stomach. He was massive, his form easily detected amid the waving, dry grass. Golden eyes moved slowly, scanning around and before him as he moved. Every once and awhile the monstrosity stopped, letting his brilliant head lift and search all around him. His ears constantly twitched, ready to catch any sound that emitted from the world around him like two, black satellites.
Truth be told, I hated the Heart Caves and I often avoided going anywhere near it. All the memories that were trapped in my head of that place were ones that I wanted to leave locked away in the deepest part of my mind. I didn't want to remember threatening my dad or Gaucho. I didn't want to think about how I had destroyed Gaucho's dream catcher (even if that was the reason I was there). I wanted the past to stay in the past, but it always had a way of forcing itself into the present and making life miserable.
I stayed as far away from the mouth of the caves as I could, because that open, gaping hole in the ground continued to be something out of my nightmares. Instead I stayed in the shrubland where the grasses were over my my back and reached past the tips of my ears, and they swayed as I walked. I could imagine playing hide and seek with Cera as foals there, but we hadn't really had the opportunity to grow up together. Maybe one day, when I had kids of my own, they would come out here and play hide and seek with other foals.
But who was I joking? Kids of my own.
I snorted and dipped my head down to continue my search for material that I could use for the dreamcatcher that I wanted to replace for Gaucho. I knew I could probably make the whole thing out of metal, but I didn't want to do that. I wanted to make it something like what I destroyed (before dad had turned it to gold, of course). I just ... what were dreamcatchers made out of?
In retrospect I probably should have asked Cera for some kind of idea before I started rooting around in the tall grass. Oh well.
