The sizzling, searing energy reminds the grey filly of Mother. She has witnessed firsthand the way her dam can electrify her body, cause great lethal sparks to dance across it in a dazzling array of savage beauty. Oizys touched it once by mistake - it hurt, and how Mother scolded her for acting without thinking! Electricity is beautiful, but dangerous. Treat it like you would treat a wild animal - respect it, admire it from a distance, but never think for a moment that you own it, the ironheart had warned.
But that is the problem with young Oizys. She wants to own it. She wants to own everything. It is Ker who leads her; the eagle is fast becoming a mistress of the skies, and she lands only when she has to. Through their bond, Oizys feels her companion's delight as she sees the stoats, as hunger flares in her belly and her raptor's eyes sparkle with hunger - the girl follows her bird on foot, keeping close to the shadows as Mother taught her. Ker dives and swings between the branches, agile and dextrous upon wings designed for this very thing; she sees deer as well, and the bonded pair's hunger intensifies. Imagine their surprise when they see the stoats coralling a great sizzling ball of power. Both filly and eagle halt, stunned, before Ker realises she cannot hover and resumes her path forwards. Her instinct gets the better of her and she dives towards the electicity, screaming joyously, thinking it is prey... ZAP! The eagle recoils, her scream changing tone as a bolt of lightning scorches the feathers on her underside. She retreats to a nearby branch to preen her blackened belly, her griffin-like crest erected and her remaining feathers puffed up to their full extent. ">:[" is her forceful reaction in Oizys' head. The gargoyle laughs nastily at her companion's misfortune. Idiot bird. Oizys is more controlled, more calculating. The stoats want help, and the girl thinks there may be a reward should she succeed. There's a stallion nearby with two deer, doing something, saying something - the filly pays him no attention. She will forge her own way, decide her own solution, and grasp the power that she desires. But how? How does one stop a rolling ball of thunderous danger? The girl muses for a moment, before a possible solution hits her. She shuffles away, and returns with a small stone clasped in her jaws. She drops this in front of the Spark Thing, careful not to get too close, then follows it with another bigger rock, which she rolls with her nose. Ker, grasping the idea, forgets the indignity of her zapping and flies away to help, returning with other stones which she painstakingly assembles on top of Oizys' ones. Together, filly and bird attempt to build a wall of stones to block the magic's inexorable path forwards, working in tandem and oblivious to all distractions. Wood would be easier - and lighter - but the girl knows how well trees burn. Stones, in contrast, resist. |
Ker gets zapped when she flies too close, then she and Ozzy begin piling stones in front of the electricity to try and stop it.
OOC: I think I'm still okay to post here, because even though the most recent post in Ozzy's wishlist about this magic is only from last week, it was just an adjustment of wording that came after Smitty's post - the magic is still exactly the same one that's in the original wishlist post, posted well over a month ago.
