He snorts, not exactly in disbelief but as though he's not sure what to make of her words. Harmony. What harmony could there be with such things fighting for space, for sunlight, for air. For a moment the forest seems to close in around him and he can't breathe.
Then he follows her gesture to the sight of the entwined roots, and the claustrophobia eases it's grip on his throat. A little breath shudders through his rib cage, and he slowly beings to walk along the edge of the pool, towards the entwined roots. He sniffs them suspiciously, rose lined nostrils wide as he inhales. In the end, he cannot make up his mind about it. It does seem... unique. To his eyes though, they appear to be in competition, trying to strangle each other for space.
Her stretching does not go unnoticed. His head comes around in one of those sharp, quick motions that break up his otherwise slow and careful locomotion. There is a look of brazen appreciation as he watches her. Not in the way a stallion usually looks at a mare, but rather in the way a ground bound creature might admire the beauty of a soaring bird.
"Yes." His answer is short and quick, but weighty with unsaid things. He hesitates for a long moment, studying her. Then he chooses to elaborate. She has been honest and answered his questions for all that they may have been strange. He can do little else in response. "My home was like the sea, but solid and made of gold instead of sapphire. In some places the sand dunes gave way to vast flat plains. No grass grew here, and the ground was hard and cracked and white as snow, though it never snowed there. Few things grew taller than my knees, and what did grow taller grew spindly and twisted, each a unique art crafted of wind and sun and the persistence of life."
