Ezital couldn't help flinching a bit when he saw who had called. It was a bit like getting caught sneaking out by your mother, if your mother happened to go by the title The Constrictor. He knew that no one had told him expressly that he couldn't come and go as he pleased, but there was always a chance that someone would decide he was gone too often.

He felt incredibly awkward making his way to where she stood, every step felt like he moved too hastily and too lethargically all at once. Her red eyes burned into him, casting their silent judgment on what they saw. Did she see someone that was worthy of their position? She might just see a cocky colt that never grew up.

"Hi," he said, for lack of anything else. "How are you?"

There was something different in her demeanor than the other times he'd spoken with her, or stood in her presence. The first time she'd stalked out of the woods like a fearsome specter, and at meetings she seemed cold and serious. He'd held his anger close to his heart for the way she'd spoken to Vitani during their first meeting, but it was hard to draw it up now. He looked her over more closely. Was she hurt? It was difficult to tell in the low light.

Of course, he'd planned to seek her out eventually. He needed to tell her the events of his last venture, but that could've waited until he'd rested. That was all the reason he needed for the restlessness that struck him from time to time. It wasn't about the reasons he left to wander aimlessly, it was about marketing.

"I met someone interesting out on patrol," he began. "She was strangely emotional and dramatic over someone they called the Elephant, and then she told me her name and rank. She said she was Rexanna, the Head Thief of the Aurora Basin."

He left out the parts of her acting off, fawning over the old stallion right after seeming totally heartsick over another horse. Was that important? Surely, Ktulu would know what was important to know and what wasn't.
