"Where brilliance is good and madness is better..."
Helovia Info
Helovia opened in February 2012! We are an active fantasy equine RPG
Where once the world narrowed into naught but gray dust and desolation, the gods called for life. Wielding the elements of fire and light, dark and wind, earth and water, spark and time, they have created Helovia. The realm is set within the mythical globe of Loorien, a planet rich with all variety of creatures and blessed with all manner of magic. Originally populated by nomadic, tribal characters, they've since grown into massive empires saturated with culture and history. Separated into four distinct segments of Helovia, called "The Regions," each band of horse strong enough and capable enough, took up the power and responsibility of leadership. Unicorns, old, wise and mysterious, took to the north, hidden in forests of mists and shadows and rarely making themselves known beyond their cliffs of the World's Edge. Equines, vast, organized and militaristic, split into two, one group went north to the Windtossed Foothills and the other group went south to the Dragon's Throat. Pegasus remained nomadic, making their homes in various parts of The Wilds in a migratory manner. For many generations, the land was peaceful and calm, but peace was never the way of the gods. With a clash of argument, war and bloodshed massacred Helovia, and in the aftermath, the realm was eerily quiet. Now, as newcomers sweep into this land, they are met with the lingering bitterness of the gods and the struggle to reclaim what was lost. Nothing remains safe or certain while sorcerers and soldiers alike brood and bide their time for revenge, honor and glory.

Only the herdlands have a source of light, but lamp-trees with glowing leaves and branches sporadically line the popular roads and paths from place to place.
Doppleganger Plot ☼ - 6/20/13 - The God of Time is still struggling to close the rift though which the dopplegangers have come. He has requested that his brothers and sister assist in closing this hole, but without knowing why it opened, the task is proving difficult. Magic still remains faulty and hard to control, but the herdlands continue to be places of refuge for those who are fortunate enough to call these lands home.
ORANGEMOON cools off the lands with a a viscious force. Colder than normal, a sign of things to come during Frostfall, Helovia is bathed in a rich tropical lushness - albiet a cold one. The coastlines of the Dragon's Throat are pelted constantly by tidal waves, and the desert climate is humid but chilly. Ice begins to form early in the Aurora Basin leaving the winding trails slick and dangerous. The mists of the World's Edge coat everything in a glistening crystalline shine which encourages mould to grow everywhere. The Spectral Marsh is the only area which remains fertile, blissfully temperature and lush.

Character of the Month for
June, 2017
WEAVER, Corporal of the Aurora Basin, is a relatively recent addition to Helovia and has taken it by storm. Branded with the seal of Death on her chest, intrigue and interest follow both her past and present. Though she is assuredly beautiful, her sometimes sharp personality reveals that there is more to this uni-peg hybrid than meets the eye. Proving herself able on the battlefield in the Basin’s warrior ranks, we can’t wait to see her test her mettle against the looming Kaos happenings! Congratulations!

The filly looked up from the lush grass, strands dangling from the corners of her mouth as she regarded the King with a distant, thoughtful expression.
Beneath the canopy of budding leaves it was warm, balmy even. Though the wind still carried some bite as dawn approached the days grew steadily warmer at a pace that astounded the young girl. The mornings were heavy with mist but the thick obscuring curtain had already burned off by the time the sun reached its peak. The scent of flowers was heavy upon the breeze, a thick fragrance that made some sneeze and sniffle while others grew inclined to cast leery eyes upon herd mates they had never looked twice at before. Girls her own age were so caught up in that aspect of spring that it was impossible to get an intelligent word from them, but for some reason Erthë was not among them.
"Can you teach me how to fight? As in, how to do it properly..."
Indeed, this girl had other things on her mind. Things that had nothing to do with singing birds, handsome colts or the havoc of hormones wreaked upon a teenage body. Rather, her attention was upon the giant of a man that was as a surrogate father to her while her real one was not around, and her thoughts recalled an incident in the Threshold before the grip of winter had completely broken.
It was the first time her words had been met with violence rather than more eloquence. Not even Rikyn in his boorish, blunt arrogance had raised a hand even in the heat of one of their usual arguments.
Boetius... He had caught her off guard, taken her utterly by surprise. Only luck had spared her from serious injury, and recalling his wordless, immediate resort to violence still set her mind reeling in shock. Erthë had thought herself strong, capable, skilled even when it came to battle, but in one swift whirl and snap the demonic stranger had alerted her to the folly of that assumption.
She was not experienced at all. She had only gotten lucky a couple of times - that's all there was to it.
Dawn was coming soon and, as usual, it did not find the Elephant King sleeping. Though, unusually, he was not alone. Alongside him was his surrogate child, Erthe. In her growing dedication to the Moon Goddess, he had found her away and grazing beneath the Lady’s reign. So it was with quiet comfort that the giant man and slender yearling stood, awaiting the stirrings of others within the Edge.
While Erthe grazed, the Elephant simply stood, ears swiveling as his mind immersed itself in thoughts. Thoughts of the Moon who shone down from above, of her quest, of the herd, of it’s future, of Elsa and Hawezi, of Adaeze, of Rexanna and her noted (painful) absence— “Say, Tembu?”
His glazed eyes glanced down, meeting the pale teal gaze peering up at him. A lopsided smile crossed his muzzle at the lush grass that dangled from her mouth and, unthinkingly, his head dropped and muzzle reached out to brush the strands free of her soft, pink muzzle. Navy eyes study her face expectantly, awaiting the follow-up inquiry to gaining is attention.
His brows raised, however, mind fully snapping to focus on the leggy, blue-dipped pearl of a yearling alongside him. Mbwene stirred in her slumber behind them as his surprise flowed through their bond. She wanted to fight? Before he could stop himself, darkening eyes dropped to the crooked front legs; but then they travelled to her wings. What she lacked in agility of her forelimbs she could make-up for in lightness of her feathered appendages…
“Why the sudden interest in fighting, Erthe?” His great skull cocked slightly, roving eyes arresting on her face as he awaited her answer for a few moments. Then his deep, quiet voice continued, “I can teach you basics, but someone with wings, like Elsa,” his voice tightened slightly at the Queen’s name, “Will need to teach you the finer points of winged battle.” He shifted, to face his daughter as he waited for her answers.
