the tempest of an unrelenting sea
Too large eyes narrow on the vine that danced before her. And, from its dangling length hung a collection of bones— a paw similar to those of the sea-rats that dwelled on the surface of the sea and obnoxiously hid in the kelp forests. Unblinking gaze darts from the bones to the rotting creature, and then to Kahelo as his malformed grey body darted to shatter a winged woman’s own set of bones.
Her brows raised at the show of bravery, despite mistrusting the woman of wings. She sighed as he directly disobey her orders. But he was not a soldier; no. So it was to be expected. Instead she warily eyed the paws and their odd engraving. All things about it were of the land: the wolf, the flaws, the full moon. These things did not exist beneath the sea.
This was a waste of her time. So she snorted once at the monstrous beast, using her muzzle to brush the vine aside. But the moment her scaled skin touched the smooth surfaces of the skeletal remains, a horrendous suffering electrifies all of her nerve endings.
She reared and screamed, bladed horn slashing the vine from its tree while webbed hooves smashed the small paw to dust into the dark forest floor. Ears were pinned flush with her ridges as she trained a vicious stare, snarling at the rotting demon from behind bared teeth, “That is the suffering of my people when plagued by Vjanta. But their suffering is over! She is vanquished!” Despite the conviction of her words, fear and panic laced her tone and face. It was an alien look on the warrior, she was usually so fierce.
But she did not absolutely know that her people were safe. She knew the Tiger Goddess was dead. But the Rift was closed and she could not return to Akvo to know that their suffering had ended.
