She doesn't think it will work. Stories, imagination...when a great sea-beast roars into life above her head, she can't help the fact that she shies away to the side, those massive jaws like a vociferous mouth to swallow her whole...but the shark is but a spectre, and she quickly resents her display of fear. Weak, weak, weak.

The creature speaks; his ire is earnt by those who damaged his offerings, and the gargoyle rather worries what he will do to them. Well, she doesn't worry - more like, she has a morbid interest in what wickedness will befall them for their deed. Suddenly the ground begins to swallow up the spectral beast, and Oizys watches in alarm as he disappears without giving the power out to anyone. What a waste of....oh! The ground erupts, and an orb of blackness zooms directly towards her. That's not good, that can't be good - Ker squeals her alarm and hides her head under her wings, like that will protect her from whatever hideous fate is about to befall her and her bonded.

The orb crashes into her, and she takes a few steps backwards. To her surprise - and, yes, relief - she is not blown to pieces or murdered horribly. No, she feels...different, but still decidedly alive. She grunts her surprise, shakes her head, glowers down at Ker for the eagle's display of cowardice (the raptor sheepishly removes her head from beneath her wings as if to hide the fact she'd put it there in the first place) and tries to work out what feels different. She feels stronger. Has he cured her of the Thing? No, her weak heart still bubbles with the desire to fail on her, so it can't be that.

No others receive such an orb, so that can only lead the girl to one conclusion - she won. The magic is hers, although she doesn't feel magical as much as she feels vaguely queasy as the power settles itself into her soul. She glances at the disappearing antlers of the creature and mutters a silent thanks to it; unusual for the generally ungrateful bitch, who doesn't even thank her dam for her milk after she's drunk her dry. But this is different. Mother gave her life in the most basic sense of the term, but this antlered monstrosity has given her power.

That hand she thinks is leading her life down an inexorible path of nothingness is suddenly and forcibly loosened; she smiles.

With a glance to Kid (inadvertant, and quickly regretted) the girl takes her leave, to try and work out what she now has.
