The laugh, the fluttering wings, oh they made you weak at the knees. But you stood as still as possible, subconsciously working on your awkward shuffling that's become more of a tic than a distraction. "You're sweet as ever." she giggled, the lightheartedness infecting you. When you change directions, asking how she had been, her soft laughter faded and you could almost feel the question press on your painted friend. "I’ve… well I haven’t been that great, really..." Concern rolled over your features, brows tugging down over mute eyes and lips tightening. "But I'm doing better now." she added, clearly trying to not dive too deeply into a new conversation.
Finally you nodded, the look still painted onto your face, hopefully making it clear that you were concerned. Dark lips reached out, tugging on the wavy ends on your mane softly. You smiled warmly at your friend, pushing out gently with a rummy nose to try to brush her own. What would upset Alysanne? Your brain casually pulled possibilities to the surface, each one of them revolving around how selfless the Doctor can be; had it been a failed relationship? Perhaps a medical issue that hadn't been resolved. Whatever it be, you wanted to know the burden that she seemed to be carrying.
Meanwhile, Ouija eyeballed the bird with huge pupils, her butt now raised and swaying side to side like a panther on the hunt. Hemlock chirped, bouncing around on the sand, finally at her height. Timing the owl's hops, she finally pounced forward with big paws stretched out, landing hard on the sand just to hop wildly to the right, tossing her little head around while her tongue slapped the sides of her face and wobbled everywhere. Small growls and yips leaving her body each time she hit the ground again from the previous bounce.
The companions caught your attention for a moment, a smile beginning to dance on your lips before Alysanne stumbled over her words. Your ears pressed forward, eyes readjusting and finding the paint's. "Do.. - Uh, will you walk with me?" "Of course." a nod allowed your thick forelock to slightly bounce while you spoke. Cracked feet shifted to face down the beach - they could walk for hours and speak if need be as long as they headed down the sands. Curly tail - tangles and all - swayed back and forth, brushing the backs of your legs and billowing out in a breeze before settling back down. Had you been a mare, you'd be a pretty little dainty thing.
You usually just spoke aloud to Ouija, letting her reply in your heads, but this time you worked the magic of your bond, asking her to tag along but not stay beneath your heels like usual. Her distracted teenage mind barely heard you, but responded with 'Yeah, got it.' before she jumped to the left like a springy cat.
Unsure of how to start the conversation - but still curious - you walked slowly, dragging long toes on the sand and listening to your joints and bones pop and moan as you moved. "I'm always here to listen, Aly." your voice was hushed and gentle, eyes searching for hers after you spoke. "If you want." and matte lips reached out again to tug back at her mane as she had yours.
You only wanted your friend to be comfortable and happy.
"Voodoo." 'Ouija.' 'Voices.'
