It's said she's made of storm cells
and a wild wolf's hungry heart
A dark grin spread across her twins’ face. A small smirk cast over her own pink splattered lips as she stepped carefully ever closer to the cerndyr. As if she were dancing, she writhed around on tiny ink dipped legs trying to capture his attention. She felt the presence of the cloud of ash before she saw it as it attempted to reach for the deer. Stepping slightly away from the cloud, but still closer to the dark deer, she let her oceanic gaze linger on him as the cloud approached ever closer every second. She felt her heartbeat in her chest, vibrating against the excitement she thought she was about to witness. As she heard Kianzo’s snicker, she watched the deer’s eyes grow large as he tried to back up, yet something stopped him.

The cloud jerked closer when suddenly there was black everywhere. A slight screech escaped the filly, uncertainty of what was happening to her growing wide within her mind. She frantically tossed her head, seeking out Kianzo as she stumbled closer to him. Her vision completely lost as she screamed her frustration. What was this deer? Did most deer have abilities like this? Why hadn’t they figured that out before? (It was a simple answer, really, considering they hadn’t ever threatened one before.)

But then, just like that, vision began to return. It was blurry at first, tears welling up from the feeling of smoke within them. She blinked a few times, tossing her tiny inky head to her legs, rubbing at the white markings that lined her eyes. “Neat trick, but…” Ivory rimmed ears flicked back to her tiny skull as she forced her head up with a sharp glare. The sound, now made sense, as a golden stallion stood in front of the deer. Eyes widened slightly before she squinted them in her anger. The flames lining her back immediately turning from herds of deer to piles of snakes, writhing and striking along her back. She didn’t like this stag. Everything about him seemed to scream cocky and there was something about that smirk on his golden body that made her feel as though the only one that should be cocky was her brother. A snort was sent in his direction as she stamped her tiny dagger into the grasses of the field.

Surely Rexanna or Tembovu taught their children that…

Turning her head to her brother, she gazed at him with wide eyes. Just how did this man know Mother and Father when they hadn’t even met Father yet? She turned her head back to the stallion with the terrified deer, eyes narrowing. “Mother is boring, this was more fun.” Her voice was light but carried a hint of poison for a being so young. She wasn’t wrong, though. Rexanna was protective of her children. She would fight to the death if it meant that her children were safe, and here they were being reckless. “Father hasn’t taught us anything yet, we’re left to ourselves.” Lifting her head up, she did her best to mock his pride and ego that radiated from him as if she too were as successful as the Laurelin.

"Talk."
that she's learnt the lightning's secret—
to ripping darkened skies apart.
