It's said she's made of storm cells
and a wild wolf's hungry heart
She stood tall and strong as Kianzo reiterated her words – how Mother hadn’t told her anything. But his next form of words caused her brows to furrow as she shot a quick glimpse to the colt. She was confused, her magic beginning to reflect as tiny sheep made of flames. But then, Kianzo began to calm and she too began to calm down. They were a machine, after all. Two parts of a whole working together as one. When either was angry, the other was. When one calmed, it was like solace for the other. Her stress level and anger began to dissipate as she returned her gaze to Thranduil as if she had agreed all along. He continued to ask and Kiada was eager to learn – eager to figure out how to control the magic that rimmed her back that had now began to shift back into the deer from the sheep where her confusion lay.

The golden man before them began to speak and Kiada tipped her white rimmed ears forward, eager to listen and drink in the information. At first, he teased, and her ears flickered with uncertainty at what he was saying. But then, the stallion confirmed stealing their vision. Kiada nodded slowly, wondering how he did it and if she could one day learn to do it too. But it was quickly shifted as he returned a question to her brother. Glancing back to her brother for a moment she waited for his answer. Before, she would’ve been angry that nobody had asked her how she controlled it. But the truth of the matter was, she didn’t know how to control her magic. Maybe one day, but today wasn’t the day. But then, the man’s head tilted and spoke of practice. Kiada’s brows furrowed again. How was she supposed to practice it when it was constantly there? She didn’t have an off switch.

And then before her eyes, she watched as his pelt shimmered and shifted, sliding off his skin like sand and dust when suddenly he was a mirror of her brother. Shock registered through her small brain, the flames along her back dimming momentarily before a large flock of birds erupted in flame across her back. Ears forward as shock set into her core. She stepped forward toward Thranduil as he began to speak in Kianzo’s voice. It felt wrong. He wasn’t her brother, but he looked like him. She didn’t feel the connection to the imposter as she did with her brother, and it was beginning to make her slightly uncomfortable. She reached forward, aiming to touch the Laurelin’s Kianzo on the neck, wondering if he smelled the same, if he felt the same or if it were just a trick of smoke, mirrors, and light. “This is so weird.” She breathed, her voice shaky as she looked upon the double. She turned her head back to her brother, then back to the Laurelin, and back. “He looks exactly like you, Brother!” She whispered to him in surprise. Then, she turned her head back to the Laurelin with a smile. “Teach me!” She nearly demanded, not knowing that it was magic that only the Laurelin possessed. But still, one could hope, right?

"Talk."
that she's learnt the lightning's secret—
to ripping darkened skies apart.
