His ears laid back in annoyance with his sister as she attempted to say ‘Haruspex’; though he, himself, thought it to be an annoyance of a word, the verbal stuttering (which, on any other day would have been endearing) struck a chord of ire in him. An iirritated, sideways glance darted towards her, in time to see the flames morph from ravenous, feeding wolves to simple deer. A short snort left his small, dark nostrils; how quickly her attention shifted.

Is that how she left him so easily? Was she so quick to forget their meaning to each other?

His bright, blue gaze shifted from the grey cerndyr—whose attention was focused more on Kiada’s flames than his own, disgruntled self— to the seer, herself. Her horn was long, impressively so, and the color of her hide was a rich mahogany, making the white blanketing on her haunches leap out, even in the dimness of the cave.

His companion, in all her hyena-cub ferocity, paced slightly before the mirror, bright eyes darting from the deer (prey) to the mirror that reflected none. Her young body was too small to bring down the deer as a meal, so continual rolls of hunger growled through her bond with the dark prince.

Though Kianzo ignored her, instead his gaze followed the inviting flicks of the woman’s tail. Dark, knobby limbs carried him closer to her reflection-less mirror. At her mentions of its power, the annoyance that had lined his youthful face dropped away, ‘What will be’?” His deep, clear voice (for a foal) echoed her words, “Will it show you that, now?” Though he addressed the Haruspex, his darkly wondrous gaze did not leave the glassy, swirling surface.

A black-rimmed ear flicked sideways, listening for Kiada. Even through his annoyance, his body and mind were forever attuned to her, listening and feeling for his other half.
