Upon hearing the reply, his eyes narrowed at the double bladed stag. He wouldn’t go away and felt that it was his business, and wanted to say so, but he wasn’t sure how Ophelia or the other would act. He looked between them for a moment, unsure of how to proceed next, then decided to go with his original plan.
“I’m afraid I can’t do that.” He strode to the other side of Ophelia, keeping his eye on the blue unicorn the whole time. “I don’t like those that threaten whom I know.” He hoped she wouldn’t take offense in this. He knew she could take care of herself, but while he was here, he might as well take her side and help her out, inside of just sitting there. The words “the other mare” made a bitter tone in his mind. I’m not just going to sit there in the background like a common shrub. He stiffened, making sure he looked like he was ready to defend her if needed.
