I’ve become a simple souvenir of someone’s kill
Sleep had enveloped the Thief, as she slept just near the border of the icy fortress she knew as her home. Times had begun to shift, days began to grow longer, and with it Rexanna was finding her mental state exhausted from trying to handle the aftermath of two fast growing twins. This slumber had been one made of too much exertion. One where she had hoped to make it back home to the safety of her cave, to slumber with her children who she hoped had been home. But no, the mental strain and physical tiredness the Thief felt was brunt upon her, and so she dozed with Marembo, her companion, proving to be a little bit of extra warmth among the chill that the night always held.

Rexanna had woken with a stir, with a feeling that something perhaps just wasn’t right. Her black rimmed lids fluttered open while Marembo lifted his head to look out upon the darkness that surrounded them. But something was wrong. They looked in absolute disbelief as the snow beneath her feet had turned black, as if she were standing among icy ash. The sky was light, but surprisingly not bright as the moon peered down at them in its own strange blackened stupor. And then, something began to whistle. It was loud and almost haunting as the Thief pinned her ears to her skull, uncertain what would be causing such a sound to occur. Marembo began to cover his own ears as he looked around, ever vigilant. Then, to top it all off, there was a pull It was unlike the sound and the strange world, and instead was softer and almost kinder than the shrieking paired with an inverted world.

Shaking the last bit of sleep from her eyes, she surveyed this strange world she had woken in, shot a glance at her polecat, then turned her gaze to where the pull felt the strongest – and they were off. Silent in their means but asking millions of questions mentally, she did her best to try and ignore the incessant whistles. She didn’t even feel the exhaustion she had prior to falling asleep – all she felt was confusion and a tug at her mind. She felt as though she had no other choice than to obey the sound and the pull, and when the pair had approached, she looked upon the sky as the darkness began to spread, little fireworks like she could create were inky in their appearance and seemed to slip back into the dark overwhelming black from which she imagined it had come. But there was something ever so strange about this darkness, as it seemed to swallow the world around it. She stood near it, inching closer ever still, all while partially holding her breath. “What is this?” Her voice was a mere whisper as it left her cream lips.

"Talk."
And like the sea—
I’m constantly changing from calm to ill.
