The midday sun shone brightly overhead, leaving the ivory pelt of Sohalia the Transcended dappled with sweat. It had an odd effect, given the thin coat of dust that seemed permanently affixed to her pelt: her pristine white was marred by light beige and muddy brown, giving her a strange mottled appearance. In truth, she hardly noticed. Though she preferred cleanliness, her current state was unavoidable as a newly-appointed Artisan. Even as a crafter, before she had been blessed once more with the Sun's gift of metallurgy, she had found it challenging to rid herself of the sand and dirt that clung to her after a long day of moving metal.

She didn't really give it much thought anymore. After all, there was no one for her to impress. Not anymore.

The mare shook her head, chasing her sadness away with a sudden frown. What with her many sleepless nights, she'd had quite enough with that train of thought for a while, thank you very much. No, today would be better, she was sure of it. After all, the heat of Tallsun had finally abated, though early Orangemoon was still quite warm in the Dragon's Throat. But it wasn't blistering, and that was an improvement. Vinati was getting old enough to take care of herself (though Sohalia still strictly forbade any wandering beyond the herdland's borders), and she was developing her crafting abilities at a remarkable rate. Soon, the girl would be a weanling, no longer dependent on her mother, and though Sohalia dreaded the day that she would no longer be needed, she couldn't help but think she and Vinati would both appreciate the freedom.

The Transcended sighed softly to herself, a light autumn breeze twirling through her mane. Perhaps it was time to stretch her wings. After all, she had been finding and sorting metal all day. Later, she would travel to the church-building site to see if she could be of any use there. Certainly Cera and Maren could use one more metal-worker? At the very least, running errands for them would keep her body and her mind busy...

Within minutes, the dove was soaring through the sky, her gaze scanning absently across the sands below. Much to her surprise, two distant specks appeared on the other side of the little inlet that had been created when the Dragon's Throat had destroyed the land bridge. Curious to see who lingered at their borders - perhaps it was someone in need of assistance, or simply some of their herd who did not have or had forgotten their key. Whatever the case, Sohalia approached with the easy grace of someone at home in the sky, touching down gently at a polite distance from the two unicorn mares.

Though they seemed to be waiting patiently, and one gripped a bundle of what appeared to be herbs, the Transcended could not help the suspicion that crept through her. In her homeland, unicorns had taken over and murdered her family; in Helovia, they had tried to invade her herd. Though there had been peace throughout the realm in the recent months, and she had no reason to judge these two so harshly, she worried all the same. Still, she was a polite mare, and so she smiled warmly and forced her concerns to the back of her mind. Two lone mares were not a threat.

She would have felt better if Gaucho was still alive.

"Hello," she greeted the strangers with her usual pleasant, bell-like tones. "I am Sohalia, Artisan of the Dragon's Throat. Are you looking for someone in particular, or is there something I can help you with?"

"Talk talk talk."
