"I hope! I wanna be like daddy!" Heart rose to new heights when his son spoke with words of high praise and pride. A smile formed and tenderly he gazed at the joyous form. Love had grown between them over the past few months, greater than anything he had ever felt before. Past tense to becoming a father, he had never thought of himself as a role model; mostly he was figured to be just another unworthy mortal. It was in that instant Midas realized how strong of effect he had on his little Pegasus.

Every move, each decision was no longer his own. Cera was ever part of the choices he made, for good or for worst. Receiving the chance to influence a young mind and mold to be either a creature of humbleness or evil—it was the greatest gift he could be blessed with. One day his child would have a youth of his own; either by blood or bond. It would be the remembrance of times like this that kept the sandy avian on a straight and narrow path.

"Well...daddy is away sometimes and I get lonely..."

Gaze turned back to their lord as he took a more relaxed position. Like a shifting hill, darkened limbs buckled to meet underling earth. The lord appeared to rest before them as equals. It was a mortal gesture—despite this, Midas remained standing quietly out of simple respect. Legs locked and wings loosely trailed his sides with the feathers shimmering lightly when a breath of cool air traveled past. Velvet ears perked forward, listening to his son and lord exchange words. He couldn’t stand beside Cera through every instance in life, despite having the fatherly desire to do so. Father earth noted this and firmly instructed the protective remain behind during lessoned task.

Features along his face tightened, mimicking a constriction of his heart muscles. Memories of what had passed long ago trickled into his mind like a hidden virus. He had already experienced the drought of loss, and would seek not to do such again. The little one meant more to him than life itself; he would do anything to see his son to full growth.

As if sensing rising grief his lord showed pity upon him and gave promise of protection whilst the child wasn’t beneath his wings. A held breath was released and calm straightened the furrowing brow and wrinkled muzzle. Thankfulness lowered his mane and softened pitless eyes.
