“That’s a very strange move for a Basin Thief.”

The voice, ever rolling and deep, echoed from another empty, open cell set in the rocks. Yet unlike the last time she had heard it, it was pointed and drawn out. It was coming from a slightly different stallion that the one she’s met in the caves only a while ago. It was one she was much more familiar with.

He hadn’t just apparated there, though he wasn’t exactly thrilled to be here either. The mountains were still not the gold’s favorite place to be. When he had stepped through the Arch earlier hidden under his cloak with the first few guests, the returning scents of pine, and cold bitter air still did not bring forth pleasant memories. Instead it brought ghosts. And confusion. At that point in those moods hid bonded would usually be there to steer the conversation away, or question deeper. So when Haldir had stated he refused to stay with the gold it didn’t meet much resistance.

Yet even though he was here, on his own free will, the gold wasn’t exactly sure why he’d come. Perhaps it was because a large gathering of Helovians was always a natural draw for the Laurelin. Perhaps it was a little….research gathering opportunity. After with so many in the vale, a few wandering hoof prints in the snow wouldn’t be a threat. Or perhaps it was still the visions and ghosts swirling slowly in a miserable pot in his head.

Either way, the gold found himself here, and by here he was against the basin rocks, when he had heard someone stepping with determination towards him. Harks had pinned down, and tasseled tail silently flicked against his limbs as he waited, only to be surprised to see Rexanna come towards one of the occupied cells. The frustration and irritation fell from the gold’s face, and his cold earth eyes turned less frozen.

It was indeed a strange move for her to make, just letting a prisoner go. In the middle of a festival. Without a goodbye present. Basin Thief Rexanna may not have the exact same style as the Laurelin, but she also wasn’t the one to let someone off easy. That is where the real Rexanna….the one from the caves came to mind, and the gold couldn’t resist.

The edges of his lips curled and his earth eyes sparked with gold. As he stepped forward into the light of the Aurora Borelalis, the cloak stashed in his pouch covered by the beloved wolf cloak the gold was ever once more the crowned Laurelin. His mind still spun though, almost dizzily so with the foggy memories of caves, and stories. And the golden, flinched in his mask, because underneath it all, thought the Laurelin was a lie, those moments in the cave had not. Just as she had seen his scars, he had seen hers. Though pity never really fit the gold’s description. The smile dropped slightly, those earth eyes narrowed slight, and his voice for a moment lost its sickly sweetness, though in doing so, it was more of a demand now than a tease. But a demand laced in guilt, regret, and possibly...concern?  “What are you doing Rexanna.”

Down came the rain
and washed the spider out.
