The snow horse remained stock still as Leander seemed to weigh his options and his sanity. As the golden neck twisted and a strong voice called out the foals the ice twitched just a smidge. Too soon Leander's attention was turned back around. The wind whistled by and eddies of snow picked up at their feet as the pegasus scrutinized the snow statue.
All was calm. Eerily calm.
In those breaths that it took for Leander to lean in, whiskers just brushing the maw of the frozen horse, everything changed.
A soundless echo seemed to emanate from the snow beast as its mouth gaped and body coiled, lunging abruptly after Leander as he withdrew from their brief embrace. The head of snow seemed to be composed more of frozen stone as it aimed to collide with Leander's right eye and cheek, likely to sheer away the top layer of hide with its rough ice bits and deliver a deep bruise and welt with its weight and solidity.
For all of its strength, unseeming as that may be, the snow horse was slow. Its hooves trudged through the winter landscape as it attempted to whirl its body to slam against Leander's right side following its initial charge.
