His eyes opened and then Mauja croaked out a single word - Mesec chuckled with relief, not understanding the meaning behind the word ‘again’ but not really caring. Although Mauja had been breathing and confirmed to be alive, the fact that he was waking enough to actually speak was incredible. Mesec’s silver eyes were soft and luminous with a smile as he found the blue of Mauja’s.

But before anything could be explained, his - or their - prayers had been answered. The Moon Goddess showed up - though Mesec didn’t notice her physical presence, unable to see clearly through the crack in the ice, but the swirling of star-mists where he lay with Mauja was unmistakable. Here his mother was, proving once more that her elusive soft side did exist - even if it was just reserved for a few particular individuals.

Right now he was just incredibly thankful for her presence and her assistance - there wasn’t likely going to be any other way they would have been able to get him out otherwise. He shifted against the cool sides of the glacier to allow his mother’s magic to do it’s work as it grasped Mauja and returned him to the surface.

A moment later, Mesec was following suit. In a swirl of darkness and shadows he disappeared from the crack in the glacier and reappeared on the surface - hopefully several feet away from everyone else. There he sat on the snow and watched as his mother reprimanded them all for their talk of rope, as Erthë started to leave. He wished to talk to her but now was probably not the time, and he wanted to wait and make sure that Mauja truly was saved. He was ready to move to the Frozen Light’s side if he should need assistance in standing, but hopefully everything would be fine now.
