The Fury of Fire

Part of her had been joyous when the bright painted stag had given her a harsh reply, a flame which flickered in the distance to signal the release of whatever was pent up in inside. That finally, something, anything had given her a reason to let go. Another part of her, that proud, unabashed and unfettered section which had long been part of her armor, her sword and her shield was infuriated that the stallion had spoken to her in such a manner.

A hard snort escaped her sooty nostrils as bright eyes stared hard at him, lips set into a thin line while she pinned the pine and herb scented stag in her sights. "Oh? Who made you King of these pools? I didn't realize it was one Unicorn per Lagoon." She snapped back with a flare of her wings, a wild gesture toward the water he had apparently been enjoying, a hind leg struck into the sand with a small plume of the ground down rock. On any different day, she might've engaged the handsome creature with her usual bouts of airy laughter and flirtatious remarks, but that basin was drier than any cracked sand to be found by the Heart Fire.

Her daughters had so loved the water, her voice whispered internally, the oasis and the oceans had been a spot where she had watched them frolic where she could see them. She'd left them in the tender hooves of fellow mares as she preformed her duties, and it had been a heartwarming sight in her war strung bones to see her two girls waiting for her when she returned. It was oh so incredibly easy to impose that he intended to stop her from enjoying such a fond memory at this pool, from sulking and being angry — he should suck it up and get used to having her around, if he wanted to stay.

"I had come to escape the dull company of base stallions, but it seems helovia has an abundance of them, even outside the Throat. They're like weeds." She responded in a bland, but clipped tone. Why should she give him the honest answer? Why should she tell him that she was a woman dealing with heart break and an empty nest. She'd shouldered the grief of her children not having a father, and now they had apparently chosen to not heed her warnings and skip off into the world without a mother. No, it was much better to spit and kick like a warrior, pull up the walls and ignite the fires.

Love, my territory of kisses and volcanoes.
