Filled with a powerful curiosity ever since the meeting on the Riptide Isles, Vastra had been keeping her eyes open for the moment that Kis would appear again and do something else wonderful like the bridge he had made out of rocks and bones. Her eyes had been kept so open that she had not been sleeping well, but instead preferred to wander and explore and impatiently wait for the day when she might find him again.

Unfortunately, a whole lot of others had found him first this time. Truthfully, she hadn’t even seen him at all - she just saw the wall of horse-butts in all sorts of shapes and sizes gathering around something near the shores of the ocean.

Considering she had seen this same wall the last time he appeared, it seemed to be a pretty good bet he would be present. And even if he wasn’t, there was no chance that Vastra would turn around without discovering just what everyone was looking at.

Being relatively small, she found it easy to weave her way through the crowd and with delight she arrived in time to just catch Kis’ last words about trusting him. If Vastra had doubts, they were evaporated when so many moved forward to grab some of the seaweed in their mouths and disappear into the waves. So the pale red filly bounded forward enthusiastically, grabbing her own piece, and entered the waves as well. It wasn’t that she did not think about the repercussions - she had. But she wanted to see whatever Kis was going to show them more than she cared about the dangers.

Said goodbye to you, my friend, as the fire spread.
all that's left are your bones that will soon sink like stones.
