Tell them it's fine. Tell them that we're safe.

Isopia's voice spoke into Hubris' mind, and the dragonling gave a clear sigh of relief.

Tell @Aithniel . Isopia continued. The bronzey dragon turned towards the ashen woman, and began waving his clawed hands dextrously to try and get her attention. He leaped up from his place on the sand and glided towards her, hooting gently to catch her ears and hopefully direct her eyes towards him. With a wide toothy grin which wouldn't have been on his face had anything untoward happened to Isopia, he made an O shape with his thumb and clawed forefinger, extending his other talons away in a clear pantomime of OK.

Meanwhile, Isopia breathed easily beneath the waves, and despite her skepticism about what all of this entailed, she was actually quite enjoying this. Her golden eyes looked below, using her large wings to propel herself forward. She saw schools of fish, sea stars, and even a ... a shark? Perhaps there was a whale! Quickly the demi-goddess looked around for Zero (who she had been sure was right behind her), to see if he had drawn the same conclusion as she just had. But her one-winged friend was no where to be seen. Why would he have refrained from joining her? This was exactly the type of thing he loved. So why had he remained on the surface?

Disappointment coloured her gaze as she turned her attention back to Kisamoa, feeling slightly guilty about enjoying this experience without Zero at her side.

The Mountain listened as the creature's voice invaded her thoughts. His request seemed ... odd. How could a word impart so much meaning to these creatures who would have no reference for the things that they spoke of? Still, Isopia supposed that these creatures might have minds that worked in a way she couldn't yet understand. Perhaps a word could be as satisfying as an image, or a story.

But what word? What word would she give them, that was new to them? That they could not already find down here? Then, as she looked at the coral reef, partially obscured from her view and growing fainter as the light from Kis's organ failed to reach it. Iso's lips were clamped tightly around the seaweed so as not to break whatever spell it had on it, but she smiled none the less.

She knew the perfect word.

Expanse She thought, and closed her eyes. She pictured the cliffs of the edge and how they seem to drop down for miles and miles into the sea. The Heavenly Fields, and how it was impossible to see to the ends of them. How deep the Deep Woods seemed to feel, and how big the Endless Blue appeared when one was standing on its shores. Down in these murky depths, surely they would not have a sense of vastness, of expanse, for light could not penetrate down to these levels to reveal just how much was hidden in the darkness.

CONTEST WINNER

Hubris tries to tell Aithniel that everything is good below the waves.

Isopia thinks of the word expanse

isopia
Out across cities I see buildings burn into piles
And watch the world in wonder as mountains turn into tiles
And trees losing their leaves and faces becoming tired
I wish I could discover something that doesn't expire
Come and stumble me
