A beach was as good a place as any to spend the hours, it was open to the sky and the sea, which Mercutio supposed was a good a view as any could wish for. The vastness of both was a good reminder of on's size in the world, small (even if he stood over most) but compared to the wider world what he was and who mattered not a wit. When you remembered that nothing really mattered, it was easier to let things go, to roll from place to place and be sure you left no mark. And Roll the stallion did. He moved his bulk over the beach with a casual stride, not glancing back, not even paying too much attention to what lay before. Coasting, if he'd had a little more self awareness or desire from introspection he would have recognized the passive stride was glaringly symbolic of the way he'd been moving through his life. Passive, casual, drifting and all by his own design because he was so very sure it was better that way, indeed that it was the only way to live to avoid a little pain. He didn't like to think about what was lost in the lifestyle. A flash of glittering color caught his eve, and so with the mental equivalent of an ambivalent shrug, he changed course and found himself approaching a growing gathering. Central seemed to be a smaller group (one he was stunned to see was purple) with a handful of foals and other adults grouping in around the edges. He decided to but his nose in, not once guessing that Gods were in attendance, and gravitated to the one most similar to him (at least in appearance). He came to a halt near the mouthy buckskin mare as she said something about arts and crafts. "What's the story with this pow-wow?" He sent her his easy grin with the aside. I know myself a hypocrite, a coward, and a fool. |
