It is happening again.
A girl is alone in the world, even in a crowd such as this. Everyone she doesn’t know gathers around the pair of immortals, Kisimoa and a purple-tinged mare than can only be the Moon Goddess. A girl has never seen the Moon up close before; indeed, the astral body that floats above their mortal plane once the Sun lays down his weary head pales before this glorious being on the beach. A girl is wary, as she is wont to be, but curious. This is a good trait, this curiosity, one of the many things imparted to a girl from her mother’s blood many moons ago.
A year is a long time for a girl to have been without a mother, and though it has not been exactly that, it is near enough as makes no difference. These days, she rarely has a father on whom she can rely. More and more, a girl has considered finding her own way, making her own home. The Hidden Falls have brought her nothing but sadness and loneliness. She will not miss them.
But that is neither here nor there.
For now, a girl thrusts all thoughts of home aside to focus on the scene at hand. There is something vaguely threatening about the Moon, a girl decides, something that cannot quite be named. When the purple mare stomps her hoof upon the sands, grains turn to shards of sparkling glass. Kisamoa, the strange man from under the sea, had such a jovial attitude before; how will he take the goddess’s actions? Will it be war, much like that a girl has heard of from the time before her birth?
Only time will tell.
