Why does she ever leave the beach? It’s safe there. Even the things that happen are wonderful things. She thinks of the seaweed that she earned in her little dive down into the ocean with Kisamoa. What a good task. Unlike everything else that has ever happened to her. Yet she keeps going when things pop up. Masochist. Is that the word? Because that must be what she’s become, putting herself in these situations that result in whothehellknowswhat with so many damn horses around.
Yet here she is, staring at this creepy little ram thing that stares out at them all with creepy yellow eyes. Is it that time of year? Well, actually, there are plenty of creepy creatures in this place. The time of year probably doesn’t matter.
The little ram beckons them all to come. It’s a sure sign she should just run. And then it asks “trick or treat?”. Oh, that question must seriously be a trick in and of itself. Yet, she stays. Idiot, she thinks, but greed and curiosity win out over common sense. “Trick,” she says, because hell, it was probably all a trick anyway. What difference did it really make?
