A girl is afraid. The strange ram-thing of shadows sits alone, grinning at passersby, offering its wares to the unsuspecting. The day is bright (too bright, in fact) and vibrant in a way that it can only be in the autumn, as the days grow shorter and the nights grow longer and that unique, chilly bite enters the air. A girl is over-sensitive, always has been, and even the saturated colors seem to send electric sensations through nerve endings into the brain. A pounding headache has a tremulous scowl appearing to combat the trepidation leaking into a girl's vasculature.
The approach is tentative. Some have come and gone away unscathed; others have walked away with various ailments. But a girl is nothing if not brave (or so a girl tells herself), and so dark hooves make a soft beat to the shadow-creature's side. "A treat, please?"
