Miykael had been little more than a ghost since... well, ever since certain events occurred in the Falls. Truth be told, he just isn't cut out for herd life. It's all about specific jobs, cliques, and - frequently - being looked down upon for being a pacifist and a healer. He'd had his chance, though. After that mess with the foreign gods and their foreign diseases he'd been handed a promotion. It was the highest he could ever go as a healer but it just wasn't what he wanted. He is better suited as the wandering medic - healing anyone and everyone he pleases. No ties, no obligations of teaching or learning about herbs. He'd never felt so at home as when he'd wandered the reaches of Helovia to heal those particular sicknesses. It never even mattered that he'd nearly been at death's door by the end of it. Every time he fixed it, every time he saw the relief spread across their faces - that was what he lived for, what he craved.

So on quiet wings he slices what remains of his ties with the Falls and disappears into the wilds of Helovia.

The dunskin paint knows without doubt that December will follow him and frankly, it's probably for the best. Who knows how long it would take for Carl to get her thrown out or worse (not that Miykael always disagreed with those that Carl has disliked; he was honestly a little disappointed when Carl's spit fell just short of hitting Ktulu). Miykael wanders as the seasons change, never hiding but never staying anywhere for particularly long. Life is far more harsh without the protection of a herd but he can't bring himself to care. Naerys is still safely tucked into the boundaries of the Edge (most of the time) but she still won't talk to him or meet with him so he occasionally sends Eliana overhead to check in on her. Perhaps it was creepy and perhaps he simply needed to let her go but he simply cannot do that. December was never very far away, she had her way of finding him regardless of his particular location. And Merialeth? Frankly, he hadn't seen her in awhile and a part of him has gone with her.

As much as he loves being a father, and boy does he, he's just not very good at it. Things are always great for a little while but then he slips away and disappears on them. Nathanael and Barakiel, Naerys, and now Merialeth. All four of them suffered from a father that just wasn't around for very long. Perhaps he could trace it back to his own father's disappearance when he was young but it wouldn't really be fair to pin all the blame for his own shortcomings on his father. Kastiel did what he could - it wasn't his fault that Miykael threw himself into a fight before he was ever ready, a fight that wasn't his to take on. It wasn't Kastiel's fault that Miykael died that day. Instead of following in his father's footsteps, he should have tried harder. It's too late for him with Nate and Bara, though those little spitfires can certainly hold their own - wild little demon-hunters that they are. Naerys... well, she has her mother and a number of friends that would have her back any day of the week. Meria's disappearance, however, continues to dig a hole through his worried heart, eating away at him.

Perhaps that's why he turned to the Secret Grove. It was a comforting place for him, a place that holds only positive memories. Hidden as he is amongst the trees, December didn't see him but he heard her. Her call sounds off and her words are jumbled but there is no mistaking the familiar sound of her voice and despite the annoyance evident in her tone - a smile curls his soft lips. Resolutely, he shoves the thoughts of his children to the back of his mind and turns sharply on his hooves. Miykael fluffs his large white wings, tucks them against his sides and then he moves through the grove towards her with the graceful, nonchalant ease he usually possesses. Her scent, rather pungent due to her cycle, sends an instantly recognizable warmth through him. Miykael glances at Carl, an amused glint clear in his own bright blues, though he is careful to keep it brief and return his focus to his ashen temptress. They were always fire when they came together - heat and passion erupting in an almost dangerous way but that didn't mean he was just going to waltz up to her and take her on the spot. Her jumbled words left him concerned enough to hold back. "December, love, are you alright?" he asks, his deep voice a warm and caressing rumble. His concern is evident and that's all we will focus on for now.

And if you close your eyes,
Does it almost feel like
You've been here before?
