No reply comes to the warm suggestion that the colt was memorable, but it didn’t have to. The gold watches that idea spread over the youth. Seeing it quell the tricky danger that risen at his tease. It makes his tasseled tail curl tightly low. Bingo. An accelerator, and a damper. All he needs. Perhaps this truly was becoming an investment…

It made his glances away from the youth all the harder to stand. He knew how he desired the gold’s attention, but how much would the colt desire that of his sister, or his family’s? Fortunately for him, the youth had much yet to learn, and let it slip. It seals the deal even further. It was the twin, the spitfire sparked the ashen’s heart. How deeply had she crushed it he wondered. He had said that she’d found another, but he doubted they were even one yet. Petty children squabbles perhaps…and yet…the youth had taken them so seriously, let them corrupt him perhaps? Had such a thing created that dark place? What a curious thing…

A jumping correction lifts from the one behind him. And he resists the urge to laugh. It was too late for that. The shame of the reveal underscores the guilty sentence. He knew it was a weakness to reveal that information, but it was too late to hand that weapon back. Still, there was quite a list growing of things the colt would need to learn. Though it seemed, he was a quick learner at least. The gold breaks his study of the vine to turn his head back for a moment. His delight continued to see the attempted look of indifference. “Well absence does make the heart grow fonder, Ashen.”

He lets his head raise in thought, eyes wander as if in a memory. “She searches the hardest for you…” Now that perhaps he didn’t know…but he did know what the colt wanted to hear. “Found me for the King, a tricky endeavor.” His gaze turns back to the vine, though it pained him to do so. It was dangerous to speak like this and not know how the words fell, but his indifference might be the price to turn lies into truth. “Poor determined dear seemed a bit desperate…It didn’t suit her.” Or he imagined it wouldn’t.

The conversation moves on though, and it is only when the colt questions him that he looks to see what he has created. He knew the clinched jaw of the elephant king well enough to see its traces, and make the boldness of the father coursing through the youth veins. It trembles with a dare, a challenge. And it was not entirely something the gold wanted. He needed the colt, but he wouldn’t dare drag the youth back. Not after he found such fun little quirks. He needed him to want to come…

Haldir watched the pair, ignoring the manipulations of his bonded. He hold steady as he can. The gold had at least taught him a little skill. Yet as the hyena looked up and locked his gaze the stag felt the rising tide build in him. His instincts fighting back what he knew was expected. ”Thranduil…..” It warned, but there was only a firm simple command in reply. ”Hold” The stag let his head rise in defiance at the stare and attention of the predator. It was a bluff, but also a trust. The gold hadn’t let harm come before, and he wouldn’t again….he hoped.

It took only seconds for the gold to craft a plan. To twist and bend it all into place. “Well that Ashenheart, is entirely up to you.” The gold turns back to face the colt again fully. Letting his wicked grin slip into a more serious gaze. What a clever guise, give the colt a choice when clearly he hasn’t one. Not too shabby. “Though I will say this….you can’t hide in these hedges forever.” It wouldn’t have been pointed advice for him only months before. “You know what you desire. And it’s not here. You can’t win her back by hiding. You’re no coward so don’t act like it.” Each word draws and lassoing out to grab the colt. “Not to mention this place has a terribly lack of fodder…so small.” His eyes glance down to the Quilian, looking at it as if it was nothing more than another baby kit. “You’ve found control, now don’t lose potential.” He lifts his head back up, drawing back and letting his small thin smile grow back again. “So you tell me….what now?” His own nerves bristled, magic pulsing like a hot blade in his hand. It was a terribly dangerous game, but good god it was fun.
