At his navy gaze’s inspection of the feathers at her crest, the raise and bristle; which, in turn, causes the Elephant’s own dark brows to rise. His gaze flicked back to her bright teal eyes, questioningly. There must be some underlying reason, some old grievance or insecurity, for the mere examination of her feathers to cause such an instant, instinctive hostility.

The King’s great skull and heavy horn cock slightly as the feathered mare chirps. It was not a sound he had yet heard from an equine—winged or not. “You speak to them? Birds?” His deep voice rumbled in question, eyes curious. His tail flicked around his haunches as she pegasus woman nudged her nose towards the carcass, bringing a new waft of death to the gathering of equines.

And then, as he continued to wait for her name, and none came. Only a bright, direct turquoise gaze that slowly drifted away from his own, expectantly waiting navy. The silence stretched long, and the King’s mounting bemusement began to cloud his eyes and crease his eyes.

The confusion slowly began to clear from his gaze as well, as he asked yet another question,“Do you speak at all?” His black rimmed ears now fully perked forward, entirely intrigued and interested in this new herd member—at least, newly met to him. His ears twitched as the vulture’s beak cracked against the fresh bones before them.
