Dragomir was not sure why he had decided to leave the Hidden Falls today, but he was glad that he had. He remembered this tree from when he’d first arrived to Helovia, though it hadn’t been citizens decorating its boughs, then. Rather, it had been the wildlife, which had been scarce at the time, due to the presence of a dark energy having arrived in the land. While it hadn’t seemed like much at the time, he’d been given a gift from the tree, less spectacular than some of the things that had arrived at the hooves of those who stood gathered: a simple pine branch. Moving his tail just to hear the now-glass-encased thing sing against Ranjiri’s totems (red, glass beads, and a glass encased, golden feather), neatly bundled among them, he is happy again to see this tree. If not for that unassuming branch, the wraith he’d encountered to the west might have killed him, or worse, but it, miraculously, had wreathed him in golden light, and literally expelled the beast away. It had been another of those horrible, altered beings that had given him the feather of his beloved, interestingly enough, and the whole encounter, itself, which had brought him truly close to her at all. Encased in glass, the Moon’s glass, made in his first real place of belonging here in Helovia, the entire object was almost sacred to the man, for many reasons, though one was certainly more prominent than others on that list: it had cemented in his mind a permanent belief that, no matter what (even if you sometimes forgot to remember), your friends and family were the most important. So, it’s no wonder that when he arrives at the foot of the great tree, it’s this conglomerated trinket which shines and sings in the branches when he steps away, with a grinning nod to the Earth Turtle, as the shy crafter returns to the gathering fold, to wait for what happens next.
