HERB KNOWLEDGE

1. stocking up - herb gathering in the DT, led by Najya {Birdsong Yr. 8}

Gathering:
  • Cloves: grow close to water, on trees, found on the island
    • Uses: preventing infection
      Prep: dry them before use
  • Chamomile: white flowers with yellow centers, found anywhere that is sunny; only blooms when it gets warm
    • Uses: helps with calming, reduces inflammation, eases pain
  • Aloe Vera:
    • Uses: topically for burns
      Precautions: do not ingest
      Prep: take a leaf, you can plant and grow it into a new plant or gather a new one – can cut off a leaf and use it to grow a new one
    • Bonus: great for trading with other herds, IF, they have a greenhouse
