There was simply far too much cheerfulness. It caused the pale one to shrivel up like a prune, his head recoiled back into his neck as he watched the families and cousins recieve their gifts. There was no denying his own little speckle of joy for the new scarf he recieved; it was beautiful, but it was all ruined by the chattering, squeals from little ones and grunts from old stags. Instead he went and stood close tothe earth turtle himself, inspecting his shell and the cracks and crevasses in his old wrinkled skin. "How old are you?" Toulouse asked the terapin without much hesitation, his crystaline eyes peering curiously down at him. He didn't expect much of a reply, but he had had enough of banter anyway and so attempted the best he could at a farewell (he was much too cross for his usual fanfare) "I like your... wrinkles" was that farewell and off he went to hide behind the tree and perhaps try to steal some of the things that people had left hanging there. |
