Letha Where will I find peace other than in oblivion?
Letha did not know where her mother was, and so each day she ventured farther and farther from her home in search of the life-giver. Inside her stomach rolled in anger, in hunger, in pain. Her legs called for her to lay down and just bleat out until someone took pity on her, but the stubbornness in her heart borne by her grandmother would not let her. A hard determination set across the filly's face and she continued to search for her Goldenshade. Her body moved toward the open meadow, and as the other Helovians flooded past her Letha got caught up in their commotion.
The filly was too shy to place anything on the tree, and she stayed in the outskirts of the gathering until she saw a glimmer of something familiar move in the distance. Blinking her ocean eyes and lifting her dainty head, the youngling tried to pinpoint exactly what she had seen a glimpse of. In all of the movement and massive bodies, she finally found the towering woman. She knew her! Snorting, the grulla pressed on. She moved through the snow and the crowding bodies until she stood before Isopia. The woman's mass and familiarity made Letha feel safe as she looked up at her. Her large eyes stared up at her, the tuft of forelock falling to one side to cover the nub of a newly growing horn. Letha snorted again, digging one of her hooves into the earth, before moving herself to stand next to Isopia.
The czarina's daughter did not want anything from the Mountain, but standing with her in the absence of her mother made her feel comfortable. |
