The water before Tiberius ignites with color as each drop of sunlight reaches between the clouds above, transforming the navy ocean into a pool of emeralds. His acidic eyes watched the faraway horizon as cold winds raked over the cold sand, flinging grains into the air constantly. These grains raked across the sensitive skin of his snout and stung his eyes, but he continued to stand still- a statue on a frigid beach. His fur had grown thick, protecting him from the bulk of the cold, yet he still felt part of Frostfall's harsh sting through his winter coat. It was midday, but the temperature was still brutally low. Most disliked this cold season, but not he. There's winter in his bones and when his life gets too heavy, his glaciers groan and the snow flurries dust his soul with tired coldness. And when he is overwhelmed, avalanches begin, snowing in his heart for a while. Yet still, there is beauty in the endless white- frozen crystals upon thick lashes or a frozen lake reflecting the sky above. All the dreary things in life are beautiful and intricate just beneath the surface.

Tiberius has changed, physically and mentally. He no longer had scrawny wings, a raggedy baby-fur coat, and awkwardly long and unstable legs- no, he had grown into his lankiness and awkwardness in an appealing way. His body was layered with growing muscle mass, his fur had a sleek, healthy shine to it, his wings were grand and impressive. From his blocky head grew large ram horns, thick and strong. His impish foolishness had matured into controlled desire to advance and do well in life. Overall, he had just grown up. Still, the boy has more to go but he was nearly a two year old, nearly a stallion, and such was obvious. Part of the reason for his rapidly rising maturity is due to Tiberius having been on his own since his second season in life. The colt had left the Aurora Basin a year ago and began trekking around Helovia. He acquainted himself with the flora and fauna, learning much about the world as he did so. A naturalistic hiker, he had plenty of alone time to grow comfortable with himself and right his moral code. With a negligent father and an absent mother, Tiberius adapted to life alone and taught himself everything he knows to date.

His emerald eyes tore away from the horizon as his head rotated on his thick neck to the left. Peering down the beach, he silently wondered if one would join him on this Frostfall day. Who would stand by his flank and watch the waves crash against the tawny shore and dissipate into useless foam? Perhaps no one, but that would be perfectly acceptable to the boy also.
