In truth, there are some days where she just doesn’t know what to do. It’s too damn cold for swimming. Maybe she could head south, meet the Dragon’s Throat Wise One or something. At least it would be warmer there, and she was perfectly happy to swim to the island. But she cannot quite get her feet to agree to this plan. Probably because she knows there’s so little that she actually knows. The seal-gray mare had just sort of jumped when the position had opened and had never actually learned from anyone before her. Yes, Isopia helped now, but the Mountain also wasn’t the type of mare you just stood in front of asking a thousand questions. Besides, she needed to figure out how to learn in other ways.
Was there even anyone else in the ranks with her here? Because maybe she could use them to help her. Unlike Isopia, Syrena was terribly happy to delegate. Not that she wouldn’t go out herself - she’s getting good at that, as tempting at the idea is to send someone else to do all the hard work – but rather that they could learn more together. Or maybe try the divide and conquer technique.
Maybe she should start there. Oh hell. This might suck.
But she does it anyway. She takes a breath like the big girl she is and calls out, summoning anyone interested in learning stories today. She has no idea if anyone will show up, and doesn’t totally care if they do or don’t. One, she has no plans for a formal meeting or any such nonsense. It’s just a way for her to figure out if there’s anyone out there to help her. And two, if there isn’t help, well then so be it. She’ll go back to plan one and head to the Throat.
